Jacob and I met freshman year and began dating November 1st of our Sophomore year of college at Texas A&M University. We knew that to have the best relationship, it was important to keep Christ at the center of our lives and at the center of dating. A year-and-a-half later, Jacob and I completed the Merge program at Watermark in Dallas, Texas. That's when we knew that we wanted to spend forever together. On February 15th, Jacob asked me to celebrate a "late Valentines" day with him over dinner and a dessert party at Astin Mansion. He picked me up, we went to eat, and I immediately knew something was different when Jacob barely ate his food and needed coffee... at dinner. If you know Jacob, you know he's ALWAYS down to eat. From there, I was rushed to get in his car so we wouldn't be late for the "event". I got in the car and Jacob began describing the types of dessert that would be there. It felt so real! We pulled up to Astin and we were the only. ones. there. I immediately said, "oh my gosh we are the first people here." We proceeded to the front door where the hostess greeted us with a "welcome to our event, please make your way outside." We walked outside and there was no event. Just an arch with Edison lightbulbs hanging from the ceiling, a bench with our names on it, Jacobs Bible, our families hiding behind the storage room, and a ring (but I didn't know that yet). Jacob sat me down and expressed that he first knew he loved me when we danced together at a formal at Astin Mansion almost two years ago, and from then, he knew he would propose here. I said YES!
