There will be officially 2 ceremonies! We will have the Vietnamese Catholic ceremony on Sept. 3rd, 2022 in Glen Ellyn, IL and the Indian Sikh ceremony in Cancun, Mexico on Nov. 19, 2022. There will also be an event before our Cancun ceremony called the Ladies Sangeet which you can read more about below in the FAQ's. Having two separate ceremonies, we will be able to incorporate both of our cultures and celebrate with our family and friends from near and far.

Unfortunately, Moon Palace Resort does not allow for Uber/Lyft or any rideshare services to enter their property. We are working on setting up a shuttle service with the resort which will depend on the number of nights each guest is staying. If you stay for 4 nights or more, the shuttle service to/from the airport will be complimentary. If you stay the minimum 3 nights, please make sure to send your flight info to Julia/Indar so the coordinators can schedule the pick-up time at the airport. Upon checking out of the resort, Moon Palace does have a separate taxi service which can be scheduled through their front desk/lobby area.
Anand Karaj (Punjabi: anand kāraj) is the Sikh marriage ceremony, meaning "Act towards happiness" or "Act towards happy life." The Sikh wedding ceremony is known as "Anand Karaj" which means 'Blissful Union". The Sikh marriage is a very colorful and unique ceremony in which two individuals are joined in a partnership of two equals. It is not merely a physical and legal contract but a sacrament - a holy union between two souls. The spiritual goal of any Sikh is to merge his or her soul (atma) with God (Parmatma) and in marriage, the couple vow to help each other towards this goal.
Women - The traditional outfit is called a kurti, which is an Indian suit which includes a long top and pants similar to leggings. Other options are a sari, lehenga (mid section covered) or sharara. During the ceremony, guests will be sitting on the ground (on cushions), so comfortable semi-formal attire is acceptable too. Please try to avoid the colors white, black and red during the ceremony. We definitely encourage bright vibrant colors for the reception, which will be formal wear! Men - Men can wear either a long-sleeved tunic (kurta) or a knee-length jacket (called a sherwani) with matching pants. During the ceremony, guests will be sitting on the ground, so comfortable semi-formal attire like dress shirts/tied and dress pants are acceptable too. At the ceremony, all guests will be required to wear head coverings as a sign of respect for the ceremony. Typically, women are able to wear traditional dupattas or head scarves with an Indian outfit (kurti pajama etc) or formal wedding ceremony dress with any lightweight/cashmere scarf will be acceptable. Men usually wear a pug but its not required as a head scarf will be provided before the ceremony starts.
We kindly request no gifts for our wedding. Your journey to celebrate with us is more than enough. We would prefer that guests don't bring gifts. Your presence with us is all that we need for our big day! Making memories in the beautiful destination of Cancun, Mexico together is more than we could ask for. We are beyond grateful to our closest family and friends who will be joining us in celebrating the new chapter of our lives. Love, Indar and Julia
A Ladies Sangeet function is a very important pre-wedding function. The sangeet ceremony is also known as 'Gaun' or Galliya. Bright colours are commonly worn by all of the ladies who attend - Punjabi kurti pajamas, suits, lehengas, etcs. The family usually begins the Sangeet by singing traditional songs about getting married. There is also music and dancing (along with Jago) involved to celebrate the bride and prepare her for marriage.
