We're glad you asked!! Guayaberas are a tailored lightweight dress shirt intended to be worn untucked with slacks. They typically have two rows of vertical pleats and two or four pockets. Now a days there are options without pockets or embroidery instead of pleats. In much of the Caribbean a long-sleeved guayabera is considered appropriate business and formal wear - especially for weddings! We would welcome anyone to wear guayaberas in a variety of colors to the wedding, but keep in mind that longer sleeved guayaberas are considered more formal. You can check out this link for more of its history: https://www.artofmanliness.com/style/clothing/guayabera/#The%20Guayabera%20as%20Business%20and%20Formal%20Wear
We are going to be having an unplugged ceremony. We understand as well as anyone the desire to capture the special moments during this event. That is why we have contracted with a very talented photographer and videographer, allowing you, and other guests, to enjoy the ceremony, and for us to see your faces, all unobstructed. It will also make our end photos much better – because we won’t have glaring phone screens in the background of our wedding photos and videos. Many photographers take photos from the back – and even if you think you are being sneaky, your screens will be in the photos. That is why we ask you to please put your phones and cameras away during the entirety of the ceremony - including everyone walking down the aisle! All photos and videos will be shared shortly afterwards.
Please call Copamarina at 787-821-0505, extensions 725, 726, or 727. You can also email them at reservations@copamarina.com. You will not be able to book directly on their website. Remember to mention Anna Iglesias and James Mautz wedding in order to get the discounted rate. The discounted room rate is applicable for up to 3 days pre and post the wedding on March 2nd. The hotel requires a non-refundable deposit of one night room, resort fee, and tax in order to make your reservation. The discounted room rate will vary on the type of room selected. You can look at photos of the room types on their website: https://www.copamarina.com
If you are planning to stay at the hotel and want to get the discounted rate, you need to make your reservation by December 31st. Please note that we are asking people to book rooms early given that the room block is limited. See below question.
If this is pre-December 31st, please let us know ASAP by emailing us at aaiglesiasmautz@gmail.com. We will do our best to work with the hotel to see if we can get any additional room nights added.
We will be at Copamarina from Friday, March 1st until Monday, March 4th.
The majority of people we’ve talked to have indicated they will be at the resort from Thursday or Friday to Monday. Our parents have indicated they’ll plan to arrive at the resort Thursday and leave Monday.
You could, but we don’t recommend it. The resort is a beautiful place to spend a long weekend and has lots of activities you can book like kayaking and scuba diving. See our travel page for some example itineraries!
We think the easiest thing would be to book the shuttle from the airport to the resort and back. You are certainly welcome to rent a car, but likely would not need it from Friday to Sunday. All of the activities we plan to host are accessible from the resort grounds. If you do plan to drive, make sure you download google maps. Apple maps were not on our side last time we were down there.
Guanica is located on the dry side of the island. March is the driest month of the year, with an average of 3 rainy days during the month. Daily high temperatures are around 85°F, rarely falling below 83°F or exceeding 88°F. Daily low temperatures are around 70°F, rarely falling below 66°F or exceeding 73°F.
U.S. Citizens flying from the mainland do not need a passport to fly to Puerto Rico! Puerto Rico is a commonwealth of the US and is therefore considered domestic travel. Our international guests do of course need a passport to travel to the US :)
No. To allow all wedding guests, including parents, a weekend of relaxation and uninhibited revelry, we respectfully ask that no children attend the ceremony or reception.
Please email us at aaiglesiasmautz@gmail.com. If you have a question that isn't answered, it's likely someone else does too and then we can post it here!
