Nottoway is a very well-known attraction in the area. It is roughly a ten minute drive from the church where we will be getting married. Unfortunately, they are unable to provide tours at this time due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but it is a beautiful sight to see even if it is just a drive by!
Fat Daddy’s is a true Plaquemine staple. Fat Daddy’s is not open on weekends, so make sure you stop in on Friday for lunch for a pre-wedding poboy! Kevin and I both love the Sharon’s Special.
Signs for Madonna Chapel along River Rd. proclaim it to be the "Smallest Church in the World." At 8 ft. x 8 ft., with five chairs, it was once illustrated as an oddity in Ripley's Believe It of Not. It was built in 1903 by Anthony Gullo, a poor sugar farmer, after he successfully prayed to the Virgin Mary for the recovery of his eldest son. Mass is held once a year on August 15 to celebrate the Assumption of the Blessed Mother. There should be a key in the box by the door if you’d like to take a peek inside. Don’t drive too fast, because you might miss it!
