Starting June 20th, a Town of Wellfleet issued permit or parking fee is required for town-owned and operated beaches and ponds between 9am and 5pm. Permits (“beach stickers”) can be purchased at the Beach Office located at the Town Pier. Two beaches can be accessed without a sticker. MAYO BEACH Mayo Beach is free. It's a nice, relaxing bay beach with free parking across from the Bookstore Restaurant, near the pier downtown. MARCONI BEACH Marconi Beach is a spectacular oceanside beach in the National Seashore. Parking is $25 per car to park (or free if someone in the car has a National Park card). Access is off Route 6 in Wellfleet. NOTE: We must thank the Cape Cod National Seashore (established under President John F. Kennedy in 1961) for buying up so much of the land in Wellfleet and saving it from commercial takeover!!

Enjoy a lovely, relaxing stroll from Wellfleet Center over Duck Creek on Uncle Tim's Bridge to the delightful Cannon Island! Built in 1783, Uncle Tim’s Bridge was originally known as “The New Bridge” and served as a vital connection between Wellfleet’s Main Street and an island across Duck Creek. This island, later called Cannon Island, was once a bustling spot where boat repairs, fish processing, and coastal trade took place. Over the years, the bridge became a central part of daily life in town. The nickname “Uncle Tim’s Bridge” came in the 1800s from Timothy Daniels, a storekeeper whose shop sat nearby and who was a familiar figure to locals.

Established in 1971, Left Bank Gallery at 25 Commercial Street, Wellfleet, is spacious, unconfined, and tactile. A continuously rotating collection of paintings - from lyrical abstract to "plein air" realism, all with the power of engaging the viewer - are punctuated by lofty, gestural mobiles. Acting on the idea that art should be part of our living environments, owner Audrey Sherwin Parent pairs canvases and sculptures with functional ware for the home. Individual spaces are designed with handcrafted lighting, vessels and furniture.

The Marconi Station Site at Cape Cod National Seashore is where Guglielmo Marconi and his Marconi Wireless Telegraph Company of America built the first United States transatlantic wireless station between 1901 and 1902. The first transmission was on January 19, 1903. The station remained in operation until 1917 when it was closed for security reasons at the outset of America’s involvement in World War I. Cape Cod was chosen because it is the easternmost landmass in the United States

The Cape Cod Rail Trail is a paved recreational path that runs 25.5 miles from South Yarmouth to Wellfleet, MA. The terrain is relatively flat with some minor grades on certain sections in the Lower/Outer Cape areas, specifically the towns of Orleans and Wellfleet. It unquestionably offers the greatest variety in scenery and natural topography of all the area’s regional bike paths. Bring your own bikes or rent from Ideal Times. They even have E-bikes! Ibby likes to bike down to Orleans and reward herself with a visit to the Chocolate Sparrow!!! Free parking for trail users is available at the Trailhead at LeCount Hollow Road in South Wellfleet.
