Things to Do

The Wedding Website of Ian Kennedy and Sydney Jolliffe
DC has so much to offer - the national monuments, Smithsonians, and enough historical places to fill your weekend easily. But here are a few of our favorite things to do and places to eat around our neighborhood, Navy Yard/Capitol Hill, and around the city in case you're looking for ideas!

Call Your Mother Deli

Washington, DC

Call Your Mother is a DC staple and our favorite spot to get a bagel on Sunday mornings. There are a bunch of locations throughout the city so try to stop into one if you get a chance. PS - Sydney always orders the Thunderbird and Ian gets the Bacon Sun City, and then we go splitskies because both are amazing!

Duke's Grocery

1201 Half Street Southeast, Washington, DC 20003

We have (finally) settled that Duke's has the best burger in DC. And trust us, that took quite a bit of debate and taste-testing. We usually go to the one in Navy Yard but there are locations throughout the city. If you give it a try, let us know what you think!

Wiseguy Pizza

202 M Street Southeast, Washington, DC 20003

One of our favorite pizza spots! Ian will tell you this is the best pizza in DC, but Sydney thinks otherwise... don't get us started. BUT they do have excellent specialty pies, so definitely grab a buffalo chicken slice if that's your thing! And they're open super late :)

Solly's

1942 11th Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20001

This is Ian's favorite Ohio State bar for football season. Might be a good place to catch a basketball game too... (fingers crossed). Terps are also welcome, as long as they're not playing the Buckeyes!

Shaw's Tavern

520 Florida Avenue Northwest, Washington, DC 20001

DC is a brunchin' city and you really can't go wrong anywhere you go, but Shaw's is one of our favorites especially if you're looking for *bottomless*. Plus it's a quick walk to Solly's if the stars align(:

National Mall

Washington, DC

Checking out the National Mall is a must-do when you're in DC. Take a bike ride around the Tidal Basin to check out all the monuments. Or stop into one of several Smithsonian museums - Sydney's favorite is Natural History (check out the Hope Diamond) and Ian loves Air and Space (which was just renovated).

National Gallery of Art – Sculpture Garden

7th Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20408

The Sculpture Garden is outside of the National Gallery of Art on the National Mall and is definitely worth a walk through. (If you time it right, you might see one our our officiants, Caroline, taking a stroll as a break from work at the gallery.)

Ireland's Four Courts

2051 Wilson Boulevard, Arlington, VA 22201

Looking to get out of the city? Four Courts is our favorite Irish pub across the river in the Courthouse neighborhood of Arlington. It's right down the road from our first apartment together!

Swingers Crazy Golf - Dupont Circle

1330 19th Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20036

Indoor mini golf for all ages!! (But they do have an excellent bar with a great espresso martini...)

For all the days along the way
