While we had seen each other around several times prior, we were first properly introduced during our first break at Princeton, when us international students who were left behind in the otherwise empty residential college got together to watch a movie in the basement. Slowly over our first two years of university we grew closer over shared mealtimes and classes. We found we could spend many hours talking, and also many hours just comfortably being in the same room. By the end of our second year, we were spending longer and longer together on study "dates" (or "study" dates?). Distance made our hearts grow fonder - after a summer spent apart in 2011, we came back to Princeton and started officially dating. Since then, we have survived pair programming, Ian's poor attempts at compliments, CBE design, Sonya's obsession with Ikea, divergent opinions on root beer, living together in a 22 sq. m. apartment for two years, and a master's degree (Ian's). This track record seemed to bode well for the future of the relationship so in late 2016, Ian proposed and Sonya said yes! Soon after, on December 5th, 2016 we decided to quietly get married in a civil ceremony at San Francisco City Hall. So while we're not getting married on July 7th, we hope that you will join us for a proper celebration of our marriage!
