Grace and Ian originally met in September 1997 in the hallways of Longfellow Elementary School. Ian asked Grace, an older girl with a charming bowl cut, if he could follow her to her classroom, and the rest is history. Okay, not really-they continued to attend middle and high school together but would not meet again as adults until the night before Thanksgiving at Gritty's Pub in the middle of a snow storm in 2014. They dated long-distance for almost two years while Grace finished her Master's in Burlington, Vermont and Ian served as a rescue swimmer in the Navy in Norfolk, Virginia. Through standby flights, Skype calls, and trips to New Jersey to meet in the middle they survived long-distance and moved in together in a tiny but charming castle apartment in Norfolk. After Ian finished his 4 years in the military they packed up, moved back to Maine for the summer, and then hit the road for Eugene, Oregon, where they currently reside. Once in Oregon they adopted a quirky and giant-eared puppy named Lucy to complete their weird little family. They are all excited to move back to New England this summer, get married, and become settled in the place they both consider home.
