Emily moved to Maine from Las Marias, Puerto Rico to attend to the University of Maine when she was 18 years-old. Emily moved to Lewiston, Maine to complete her dietetic internship at a local hospital. She will finish her graduate career in August, 2019. All the experiences lead her to consider Maine her second home. Ian moved to Maine from California when he was 17 years old. He wandered between Maine and California until 2014 when he met Emily Duran-Frontera. Emily and Ian met at the University of Maine in January of 2014. Ian was playing the piano when Emily first saw him at the Memorial Union. I guess you could say it was love at first sight! They talked every night for hours during the following month. They had their first date at an Indian restaurant, and it just went from there. Building their relationship was a rough process. Ian did not want to start a marriage without a means to support both his wife and himself. Emily was able to convince Ian to leave his job installing internet and television in homes and return to school for engineering. On the summer of 2018, Ian started an internship with Bath Iron Works where he was able to save up enough money for a ring. He graduated in May of 2019 and began a career as an electrical field engineer with Eaton in June. Together they have been building beautiful memories. On May 2018, Ian traveled to Puerto Rico for the first time to meet Emily's family and ask their permission for her hand. On December of that same year, Ian returned to spend the holidays, and while he was there, he proposed in front of her Family. They started planning the wedding after that. It was Emily's dream to get married in Puerto Rico by the beach she grew-up seeing. We're so excited to share this wonderful moment with our families and loved ones! See you in Rincon, Puerto Rico!
