Registry

As this is not a fully western wedding, there will be no gift registry. Instead, as the groom and his family are Vietnamese, the couple opted for red packets. Red packets or red envelopes will be provided at the reception venue.
A little bit about red envelopes: Red envelopes or red packets are traditionally given wedding presents with money in it. Bills used are usually clean, new, and containing an eight (which is lucky) or a nine (which represents longevity) in the monetary value. Avoid the number four, as it represents death. The traditional base amount applied for Vietnamese weddings is to cover your plate or higher if you know the couple well. Going by this math and the wedding contract for this event, about $78 - $100 covers your plate. Vietnamese and Chinese give this to make sure the couple is not starting their life in debt and apply generosity to it.
If not attending and wanting to give a gift, please contact the bride for further instructions.
