We like to say an algorithm did something right for once. We matched online on March 20, 2022, and went on our first date five days later, where Nikki promptly tripped down the stairs and discovered a dirty sock in her sweater pocket…because nothing says “soulmate” like hidden laundry. We shut down not one, but two bourbon bars that night because the conversation was so easy, it felt like we’d known each other for years, and we basically haven’t stopped talking since. A few months later, in May 2022, we shared our first "I love you" and right on cue, fireworks went off overhead after a Reds win, like the universe was running a Hallmark movie just for us. Things like that kept happening to us and it made the first year together feel really special and unique. We were both fresh out of divorce and wanted to protect our kids’ hearts, so we waited six months before introducing them. The first meet-up at Graeter’s was pretty awkward for the bigs (Rainey and Sofia), but the littles, Madi and Quinn, became instant best friends. It didn’t take long for all four of them to turn into one loud, blended sister squad, who officially nicknamed themselves ‘the Soggies’ in the summer of 2023. From that point on, it wasn’t just about “us” anymore... it was about our little crew. We’ve been best friends and teammates from the start, building a home and a life where the girls are at the center of every decision, even more than they know. On June 15, we’re making it official as Seals Team 6 and celebrating not just a marriage, but the family we’re building together.
