A co-worker of Kevin's and a friend of Sarah's accosted Kevin in the hallway one day at school along with several other co-workers asking Kevin if he was single. Kevin and Sarah set up a blind date (from which Kevin cancelled twice). Kevin and Sarah finally had their first date at Starbucks and talked for several hours!

Kevin had the engagement all planned to be on the boat at Lake Meade (where his parents live). It was planned to have their anniversary celebration which covered as the engagement. Kevin wanted to get the lake at a certain time and had it planned with his parents so they could hid roses and champagne on the boat. Sarah wanted to stop at Starbucks for coffee and of course the line was super long and took forever! After picking up sushi they were finally on their way to the lake. The plan was to eat our sushi and then pop the question. In Sarah's version Kevin flew across the lake to a cove that they never anchored in. Kevin knew Sarah wanted a private engagement. Several weeks prior to the proposal Kevin's parents got a brand new boat and no one had ever used the automatic anchor on the boat. Kevin tried and failed to anchor the boat. This happened several times until he decided to go back to the dock to eat. While trying to anchor the boat Kevin looked for the other anchor that his dad kept at the back on the boat. Kevin lifted up seats trying to look for the anchor, avoiding the seat where the roses and champagne was hidden. At one point Sarah began looking for the anchor and almost found the roses! Finally, back at the dock and not floating away Kevin and Sarah enjoyed a lunch of sushi and sat quietly for several minutes. Kevin was trying to figure out if he could slide to one knee between the seat and table, how to get his sunglasses off and how to turn off the music. He was able to accomplish all these things and popped the question, to which Sarah said yes. Kevin gave the roses to Sarah and they celebrated with a glass of champagne. *According to Sarah, Kevin gets quiet (hard to believe) when he is stressed. Kevin is very aware of this and tried to keep talking (which Sarah said was a lot!)
