Question

What time should I arrive at the ceremony?

Answer

Guests need to be at Elope Up North at 6:30 pm.

Question

Is there a dress code?

Answer

Nice, but comfortable for you. We will be outside by the water so prepare for breezy weather with highs of 70 and lows of 55 and choose your shoes accordingly.

Question

I have a food allergy, can I make a special request?

Answer

If you have food allergies or specific diets please remind us so we can help accommodate you!

Question

Is there a toll to cross the bridge?

Answer

Yes. It is $4.00 per vehicle every time you cross the bridge. They take cash and cards. I know what you're thinking, you're frustrated that Chayson would be so thoughtless to drag you all up to St. Ignace and then expect you pay a toll on top of all the other sacrifices you've made for him in your lives First, allow me to apologize on his behalf. He is very inconsiderate. So, to reduce costs we will be taking money out of Chayson's pocket and spread it to all of our beloved friends and family to help cover everyone's toll fees. It's the least he can do, that asshole! (Chayson wrote this.)

Question

Woah, what if I'm uncomfortable crossing the bridge?

Answer

Tesia feels the same way! She has a bridge crossing coping song. It is called 7 Element by Vitas. If you listen to it for the first time on the bridge and crank the volume up it's strange and funny enough to be a good distraction. Also driving on the outer lane while on the bridge can help. The inner lane is steel grating and creates loud noises and vibrations that can be scary for some people. Can't relate? Maybe you're crazy like Chayson and you love driving across the bridge instead.

Question

Do you guys have a wedding hashtag for photos or other social media posts?

Answer

We do! It is #hurstcomeslove2020

Question

Will there be alcohol?

Answer

Yes! Please take our poll we texted to you to help us figure out what to provide. We want to make sure everyone has a good time!

Question

Will there be any group transportation?

Answer

Yes, we will have a couple of high capacity vehicles. Each should be able to transport about 7 people at a time. Our hope is that everyone feels comfortable and safe to have fun and party. We will have a couple of designated drivers to take you back to your hotel when you want to call it a night. So feel free to ride with us if you feel comfortable doing so during this wonderful COVID era and have a wonderful time. Also of note, parking at the house will be limited so not everyone will be able to drive themselves over there.

Question

Wait, what happened to the dinner at the restaurant?

Answer

We were planning on having a dinner at the Dixie Saloon. If you have no idea what I'm talking about then you can skip the rest of this one. We decided that adding the restaurant would be adding an unnecessary venue to the evening's schedule and would not fit with the atmosphere and feel that we are hoping for. Instead we will be having pizza and a taco bar at the Stargazing House which should facilitate a relaxed atmosphere to mingle and have fun (socially distanced of course, tables will be set up outside weather permitting). Plus we will copious amounts of hard liquor for your enjoyment.

Question

Tell me more about the bridge!

Answer

Sure. The Mackinac Bridge first opened in 1957. It is a suspensions bridge with the 24th longest main span in the world. The towers rise 168m above the water (and extend an additional 64m below the water). The deck height is 61m above the water surface below. The max depth of water beneath the center of the bridge is 76m. The bridge cost $99 million to construct (equivalent to about $700 million in todays dollars). There are 12,580 strands of steel wire in each of the main support cables. The total length of wire needed to construct the main cables is over 42,000 miles. It's a true engineering marvel. Tragically, 5 workers died during construction of this magnificent structure. I hope you have enjoyed the bridge facts almost as much as you enjoy the bridge itself. If you're scared about crossing it, just remember that it's super safe and that no car has ever blown off the bridge (well except for the two that did. Just ignore those I suppose).
