Things To Do
Weather will dictate much of the weekend's activities.
If we are lucky to have sunny days, there will be many opportunities to hike and/or mountain bike. Last minute bike rentals will not be a problem.
If the rain comes in, Truckee has a charming main street with cute shops to peruse, yummy restaurants for nibbles, and plenty of bars to wet the whistle!
For the history buffs, we would suggest a visit to the Donner Party Museum. See the spot that poor group of settlers had to hole up for the winter, many succumbing to eating...well, you know the story!
On a happier note (this is a wedding after all), if you've not been to this region of California before, we would highly suggest a drive around Lake Tahoe (time permitting). It is a NorCal treasure and one of the prettiest lakes in the country, known for its unusually deep blue color water. The entire drive is 72 miles and will take you approximately 3 hours - longer with stops.
