FAQs

As we are all navigating the restrictions brought on by the pandemic together, we encourage anyone to reach out to us with any questions regarding our wedding/first year anniversary celebration. We are excited to see everyone we can on 7/31/21, but want to know if there are concerns we have not addressed here.
Question

What's the deal with this party?

Answer

After getting married in our backyard in 2020, we made the decision to postpone our larger wedding celebration to 7/31/21 to celebrate our (almost) 1 year anniversary! Chicago entered Phase 5 of the State of Illinois' reopening plan on 6/11/21. This lifted all capacity restrictions at public and private events. We held our booking at the same venue and were able to secure most of the same vendors as we originally intended. For all intents and purposes, this is the exact wedding reception party we intended to have last year.

Question

What about vaccinations / mask usage?

Answer

Our venue follows CDC guidelines related to mask usage, vaccination status, and social distancing. If you are vaccinated, there is no expectation that you will have to wear a mask (although feel free based on your personal comfort level.) There is no verification of anyone's vaccination status planned - please be respectful.

Question

What should I wear?

Answer

We're requesting our guests stick to cocktail /semi formal attire, please! Wear what makes you feel comfortable, but we recommend outfits like cocktail dresses, dressy separates, or a suit and tie or a sports coat.

Question

Is there a wedding ceremony?

Answer

No - just cocktail hour, dinner, and reception with dancing. We will play a video of last year's ceremony before dinner so everyone can see it!

Question

What's for dinner?

Answer

We've booked a buffet from local Cuban restaurant Café Cubano that is both vegan and omnivore-friendly. No need to RSVP for a specific meal. ¡Dale! Dessert will be from local pie shop First Slice. There will be gluten free and vegan variants of the pies in addition to traditional options. Wedding pie > wedding cake.

Question

How do I get to the party?

Answer

If you're staying in our room block at the Holiday Inn - Skokie, there will be a complimentary shuttle bus to and from the Dank Haus. If you're driving, there is free parking across the street at 5/3 Bank. The Dank Haus is also near a brown line station, and Uber or Lyft are useful options as well.

Question

What else is going on this weekend?

Answer

We'd love it if you explored Chicago during your stay! Here's a couple of events going on over the weekend: The Chicago White Sox have home games vs. the Cleveland Indians on 7/30 (7:10 p.m.) and 8/1 (1:10 p.m.) Lollapalooza Music Festival is going on this weekend in Grant Park. It will be the biggest event in Chicago since pre-COVID and is sure to be a wild time. We highly recommend checking out things like the Field Museum, the Shedd Aquarium, the Art Institute, the Lincoln Park Zoo, and other year round attractions! Please keep in mind the presence of Lollapalooza is going to increase traffic times, especially if you go downtown. You should factor that into your plans. Check out the "Things to Do" tab for recommendations on Laura and I's favorite spots to eat or get a beer.
