Hunter - In August of 2017 I moved from Birmingham to Gulf Shores to help my parents at Oasis church. The church was newly founded with only a few families involved and one of those families was... the Johnsons! aka. Hannah's family! The new home was challenging but as I settled in and started to make friends, Hannah was close by and eventually we shared many of the same friends. Almost immediately my mother tried to set me and Hannah up... which is what moms do right? Naturally I told her to stop and that I wasn't really interested...or so I thought. As time went on, Hannah sang alongside me on Sundays, she participated in my bible studies on Wednesdays, we attended bonfires, birthdays, game nights, and church outings together and by early spring of 2018 I wanted to get closer to Hannah, but how? (My first move) It was Easter Sunday, and my father asked me to drive out to the Beach Club in Gulf Shores to lead a worship service on the beach while he presented the gospel. My big plan was to ask Hannah to come sing with me! It would be early, it was ministry work, we'd be in the car together for at least an hour, and it was the perfect opportunity to see how well we clicked in such a raw setting. She came, we sang, we worshipped Jesus, and actually had an awesome drive together! At this point I felt ready enough to ask her out on a date, but when? It was the night of May 3rd and me, Hannah, and a few of our friends were binge watching the Harry Potter movies at her house. I wanted to ask her in private but everyone stayed late, so I had a backup plan. I left my keys on the counter so I could come back in! Genius right? but Meagan noticed the keys before I walked out...dang. I took them and I left. I sat in my car ready to leave...upset that I hadn't asked her, but then Instead of driving away I sent Hannah a text. "Are you still awake?"... she was. "can you come out front real quick?"...she did. I asked her on a date that night in her front yard...and she said yes!

The first time Hunter and I ever met was May 1st 2016. The only reason I remember this is because it was also the first Sunday of Oasis church which his dad planted and pastors down here in Orange Beach. Earlier that year, our parents had met and since my family had recently moved over to Camp Baldwin, we needed a church home. My parents decided to give Oasis church a try and help it get started. Oasis church ended up being our permanent church family! However, when Hunter's parents moved down here, Hunter decided to stay up in Birmingham. So that first year and a half, I would only see Hunter when he came down to visit his family. We made small talk when he was at church and we followed each other on social media but that was really the extent of our relationship. I was actually much closer to his brother Houston! In August of 2017, Hunter decided to move down to help his family with the church. He led the bible study i was in, we led worship together every sunday, and quickly had the same friend group. Our friend group was very close and we all hung out a lot.. as in every day a lot. Through that, Hunter became a close friend of mine and multiple people would ask me "Why aren't you and Hunter a thing?" I would say nah we are just friends, we are too different, it would never work out. HA. In May of 2018, my two friends (shoutout to Katie and Meagan) said "It's obvious Hunter likes you" and I was oblivious and really thought he was just nice. I told them if he does, then he can tell me in person. Literally the next day...the next day y'all on May 3rd he did just that and he asked me outside of my house at 1am if I would want to go on a date with him sometime. I said "I think so" and the rest is history! It was definitely not love at first sight, but I love our little story that the Lord orchestrated long ago and how His faithfulness has been so present throughout our relationship!
