It all began in August 2020 at Southern Illinois University—Hunter a first year medical student and Amanda PA student . Like so many modern love stories, Hunter and Amanda’s began with a swipe. What started out as casual messages, quickly turned into something more. Dating during a pandemic was interesting to say the least. While date options were limited, Amanda and Hunter quickly learned that the fun was in the company, not the setting. Dating as students and during lockdown meant their early days were filled with countless study sessions, coffee runs, and cozy nights in. Between the books, lattes, and late-night laughs, they quickly found a best friend in one another. Even through a pandemic they shared moments of excitement—like the day Hunter took Amanda cliff jumping. Amanda, hoping to impress him in those early weeks, took a leap of faith in more ways than one. It was a moment that captured them perfectly: a little adventure, a lot laughter, and a lot of heart. On September 18, 2020, they officially became a couple, even though Hunter will claim it was September 19th. After a year of long distance, Amanda graduated PA school in 2022 and moved to Springfield, Illinois, where Hunter was finishing medical school. They moved in together, built a home and found joy in the small moments shared with one another. In October of 2023, they decided to grow their family when they brought home Goose, a sweet, floppy-eared golden retriever puppy—who quickly became the center of their world. On March 16th, 2024—just one day after learning they’d be moving to Cleveland for Hunter’s residency—Hunter and Goose planned the perfect proposal for Amanda. During a hike at a local park, he asked Amanda to check a pocket on Goose’s harness. Inside was a ring box and a note that read, “Sike.” Laughing, Amanda looked up to see Hunter on one knee, where he asked the question that would change everything. With Goose jumping in excitement, Amanda said yes through tears and laughter. That summer, they moved to Cleveland, Ohio, where they bought their first home together and began their next chapter. Now, they’re beyond excited to begin their greatest adventure yet—becoming husband and wife on May 23, 2026, surrounded by the people they love most.
