Travel Note
The Pied Piper ferry is the most direct option, with service from Falmouth, MA, to Edgartown Memorial Wharf (town dock). This is the best option for anyone staying in Edgartown and not needing a car on island. There is valet parking available in Falmouth, and the ferry ride is about 45 minutes. Reservations are strongly suggested!
Travel Note
The Steamship Authority ferry offers the most options with service almost every hour from Woods Hole, MA, to either Oak Bluffs or Vineyard Haven. The ferry ride is about 45 minutes. Oak Bluffs is slightly closer to Edgartown, and both are about 20 minutes with summer traffic to Edgartown. If you are not taking a car on the ferry, no reservations are required, however you can purchase a ticket in advance. You can make a car reservation for the ferry starting January 2026, and it is first come, first served. This may be a good option if you are staying outside of Edgartown/interested in exploring the island via car/feel more comfortable driving than walking, taxing, or Ubering. If you choose to drive to Woods Hole and not take a car on the ferry, there is parking at a satellite lot in Woods Hole, with a free shuttle bringing you directly to the ferry (10 minute ride). If you choose this option, drive directly to the Steamship Authority Palmer Avenue lot in Woods Hole, and take the shuttle to the ferry. If you are traveling from Boston or Boston Logan Airport, there is an option to take the Peter Pan bus or Plymouth & Brockton bus to Woods Hole, which is the Steamship Authority ferry terminal. This is a good option for those who will not be renting a car/not interested in parking/not interested in driving in summer Cape Cod traffic.
Travel Note
The Island Queen ferry offers service from Falmouth, MA, to Oak Bluffs. There is parking available in Falmouth at a nearby parking lot, and the ferry ride is about 45 minutes. Reservations are strongly suggested!

Travel Note
While the hotels and bed and breakfasts on the island are beautiful, a house rental may be a more economical option, especially if traveling with a group. We encourage you to explore options on Air BnB or Vrbo, and are here to answer any questions that you may have.
Travel Note
If you are looking outside of Edgartown, and for a bit of an adventure, there are house options on Chappaquiddick, which is a 2 minute ferry ride from downtown Edgartown with boats running consistently from 6:30am to midnight. If your house on Chappy is more than walking distance from the ferry, you can leave your car on the Chappy side and hop on the ferry as a passenger or with a bike, or take the car on the ferry. Chappy is a beautiful little 5-mile long island, fairly remote with one general store, but can be a fun way to get out of the summer crowds.
