≈ 10 minutes from Acantilados El Tunco is a lively beach town known for its sun, surf, nightlife, shopping, and delicious pupusas (the country’s national dish). There are many hotels and Airbnbs in the area, making it a great place to stay or visit. We highly recommend taking a surf lesson—this region is considered one of the best surfing destinations in Central America. The black sand beach is stunning, though rocky, so please use caution while swimming.
≈ 10 minutes from Acantilados Just a short drive away, Playa San Blas is one of our favorite nearby beaches. It’s less crowded and less rocky than El Tunco, making it ideal for swimming and relaxing. Don’t leave without grabbing an ice-cold Coke in a bag after your swim—just like a local!
≈ 30–40 minutes from Acantilados One of the most rewarding adventures in the area. The hike is challenging but absolutely worth it—the waterfalls are private, peaceful, and breathtaking. We strongly recommend hiring a local guide for this excursion. Highly recommended!
