'Forever Marilyn' has returned to Greater Palm Springs and can be found at the corner of Museum Way and Belardo Road in Palm Springs. This 26-foot tall sculpture by artist Seward Johnson, was inspired by the famous photograph taken by Bernard of Hollywood during the filming of, The Seven Year Itch. Desert X is a biannual art exhibition of site-specific installations by acclaimed international artists. The installations are intended to respond to the desert locations, the environment, and indigenous communities. The art works are scattered about the Coachella Valley but some are an easy drive from Casa Cody. They are free, as is an app that gives the location and information about each of the installations. The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway—the world’s largest rotating tram car—travels over two-and-one-half miles along the cliffs of Chino Canyon, transporting visitors to the pristine wilderness of the Mt. San Jacinto State Park and Wilderness Area. During this ten-minute journey, tram cars rotate slowly, offering spectacular vistas of the valley below.
