So, most people believe Nathan and I met at Wartburg. That's true, we definitely met in person at Wartburg for the first time. However, before orientation at Wartburg, we had been messaging back and forth on Facebook and Snapchat. I started the conversation with him with the line, "you look so familiar, are you sure we've never met before?" This led into conversation about possibly seeing each other at marching band competitions. After that, time went by without much contact, then one day I posted a cute selfie on my Snapchat story with the caption "feeling cute." Nathan responded to the story with "you are cute" and the rest has led up to this moment ❤
May 24th, 2020 was supposed to be our graduation day from Wartburg. However, COVID-19 had other plans, we ended up only have a virtual graduation, so we decided to take our caps and gowns and do graduation photos with a professional photographer. Our last stop around campus was in front of the Wartburg College sign, this is where Nathan asked Melissa to marry him. And her response was " Yes, I think you knew that a long time ago." The best part is that Nathan struggled to get the ring box out of his pocket and it took him forever to finally get it, giving Melissa enough time not to start bawling from his proposal.
