Father of the Bride
Steve is the father of the bride — and the unofficial voice of reason in Marissa’s life. He’s the wise one, the question-asker, and the guy who always makes sure a decision is really the right one before it’s final. Which, as it turns out, is exactly the kind of grounding presence every bride needs during wedding planning. Planning this wedding has brought Steve and Marissa closer than ever, and it’s been filled with quiet moments, tough decisions, and more than a few spreadsheets. But some of the best memories go back much further — like Saturday mornings golfing at Fox Hills, or him pushing Marissa on the swing in their childhood backyard. (Also, she’d like to officially apologize for begging for new golf gear… and then quitting golf.) Steve has supported Marissa and Nathan every step of the way, and seeing his daughter start this new chapter is a full-circle moment he’s been quietly preparing for her whole life. He may not always say the most, but when he does, it matters — and there’s no one better to walk Marissa down the aisle.
Mother of the Bride
Diana is the mother of the bride — the unwavering supporter who never missed a single sporting event, from Marissa’s very first soccer game all the way through her last lacrosse match. Her cheers from the sidelines were constant, her encouragement endless, and her pride in Marissa unmistakable. She’s the calming voice in the chaos, the keeper of all the details, and the woman who somehow always knows exactly what needs to get done. Diana’s love and support have been a steady force throughout every stage of life — and even in the whirlwind of wedding planning. The very first word Marissa learned to spell was “M-A-L-L,” and she credits her mom for that early lesson — which might explain the occasional shopping trip indulgence. Diana brings grace, heart, and a deep well of love into everything she does. Having her beside Marissa on this day is more than tradition — it’s a reflection of the strong, unshakable bond they share and the kind of love that holds everything together behind the scenes.
Father of the Groom
Jon is the father of the groom and the man who passed down a fierce love for all things University of Michigan — and probably Nathan’s legendary work ethic too. Hardworking and steady, Jon has been a constant presence in Nathan’s life, from coaching youth sports teams to tackling house projects together (which somehow always turned into more fun than work). Nathan and Jon share a close bond built on trust, laughs, and the kind of support that means Jon is always the first to answer the phone — no matter the hour or the question. He’s the guy Nathan can talk to about anything, whether it’s big life decisions or just needing a sounding board. When Nathan first brought Marissa around, he told Jon a story about watching Marissa blow a tire on the side of the road — and that’s how they met. Jon quickly shared that tale with his closest friends, only to find out later it wasn’t exactly true. But hey, it’s the thought that counts. Jon’s steady support and lifelong guidance have been a foundation for Nathan, and having him by his side on this special day means everything.
Mother of the Groom
Kelly is the mother of the groom — caring, genuine, and as gentle as they come. She and Nathan share a close bond that grew even stronger while building her new house together, turning what could’ve been a stressful project into a time full of teamwork and laughs. One of their favorite memories is Nathan’s game-winning touchdown in 8th grade — a moment that still stands as Kelly’s proudest to this day. Kelly is one of the very few people that Tonto truly tolerates, which is saying a lot about her special place in the family. Whether they’re spending a relaxing day out on the boat or just enjoying each other’s company, Kelly’s warmth and understanding shine through. Having Kelly’s support and love during the wedding journey has meant the world to Nathan — and everyone lucky enough to know her.
Matron of Honor
Lexy is the bride’s older sister, lifelong rival, and very recent fan. After years of sibling squabbles (and mutual eye-rolling), Lexy finally realized that Marissa is actually hilarious and not just an annoying younger sibling. Progress! Loyal to a fault and never afraid to speak her mind, Lexy is the kind of person you want in your corner — especially if there's any drama at the reception. One of the bride’s favorite memories with her is the day Lexy shared her pregnancy news — a rare moment when emotions ran high and no one got blamed for anything. She’s here not just as matron of honor, but as living proof that sisterhood can survive adolescence, sarcasm, and several passive-aggressive Christmases.
Maid of Honor
Nicole and Marissa met in college six years ago and have been partners in crime (and questionable decisions) ever since. She’s the kind of friend who shows up unannounced at 4AM because she “just needed a hug,” and somehow, that’s one of the more normal stories. Nicole doesn’t technically live with Marissa and Nathan, but she’s on their couch enough to qualify as a part-time roommate — rent-free, of course. She’s also the only human their dog Tonto has ever instantly loved, which is saying something, because Tonto barely tolerates full-time residents. From impromptu Jeep rides through Siesta Key to very sudden flights home from Milwaukee, Nicole has a gift for turning everyday moments into complete chaos — the fun kind. She even flew in to surprise Marissa during Nathan’s proposal, because apparently, emotional support now comes with airline miles. She’s loyal, hilarious, and fully committed to never leaving the dance floor. As maid of honor, Nicole will be bringing heart, humor, and at least three inside jokes that no one else will understand — and that’s exactly how Marissa likes it.
Bridesmaid
Sam was one of Marissa’s very first friends in college, and from day one, she’s been the go-to for nonstop support, spontaneous fun, and absolutely no hesitation when it comes to celebrating the people she loves. Kind, loyal, and always the first to cheer someone on (loudly), Sam has a rare gift for making everyone around her feel like they’re the main character. She’s the friend who shows up, hypes you up, and somehow turns an average day into a full-on event — especially if there’s a Detroit game on or a drink in hand. Some of Marissa’s favorite memories with Sam include their annual Fourth of July golf trip, which somehow always ends with dancing on the green and dramatically celebrating almost hole-in-ones like they just won the Masters. It’s not about the scorecard — it’s about the celebration. Sam is standing beside Marissa on this day because there was never a version of this moment where she wouldn’t be. She’s the kind of friend who brings comfort, comedy, and a little bit of chaos in all the best ways.
Bridesmaid
Morgan and Marissa’s friendship started back in 2013 at FGR — a school they both swiftly left in pursuit of bigger dreams in the glamorous cities of Howell and Canton. Since then, they’ve been through nearly every phase imaginable (most of which are better left off a wedding website). When Marissa started dating Nathan, Morgan became her unofficial roommate — mostly because she spent half her time at the Dowlings’ house just to be a few minutes closer to him. (Thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Dowling for the endless hospitality and fridge access) One of their more rebellious memories includes “sneaking out” to get Taco Bell — at 4PM on a Friday… in broad daylight… when they easily could’ve just asked for a ride. The danger was low, but the crunchwraps were high reward. Even with their friendship now spanning from Michigan to Colorado, absolutely nothing has changed. Morgan is still the one Marissa turns to for a laugh, a memory, or the kind of support that feels like home — no matter how many states are in between. She’s the kind of friend you grow up with, grow through life with, and can’t imagine doing this day without.
Bridesmaid
Lindsey and I met in 2020 when we were both teaching at Plymouth Scholars, but it wasn’t until we were assigned to the same 5th grade team in 2021 that we became inseparable. From day one, she was the kind of co-worker who turned stressful days into laugh-until-you-cry moments — and rearranging our classrooms on a monthly basis became our unofficial therapy. Lindsey is the kind of friend who truly listens — like, really listens. She's been my sounding board, my cheerleader, and the person who always knows when it's time for a coffee break or a Hobby Lobby run (her happy place). She was one of the first people I told about Nathan, and she even got the very first look at his dating profile — and thankfully, she gave her blessing. There was also that one time in Florida when we saw two guys on jet skis at a bar and, in a moment of vacation spontaneity (and possible lapse in judgment), ended up riding off with them. They didn’t speak a word of English. We were both silently panicking. It’s still unclear how we made it back alive — but we did, and we’ve been laughing about it ever since. I chose Lindsey to be my bridesmaid because she’s walked with me through so many seasons — the uncertain ones, the exciting ones, and everything in between. She’s one of the most loyal, supportive, and unintentionally hilarious people I know. Having her stand beside me on my wedding day feels exactly right — because she’s been standing beside me all along.
Bridesmaid
Stephanie is not only Marissa’s sister-in-law, but also one of the kindest, most grounding people you could ever meet. She’s the calm in every storm, the voice of reason when things get chaotic, and the first to drop everything to help someone else—no questions asked. Marissa has had the absolute honor of not just gaining a sister, but learning from Stephanie along the way. Watching her be a mother, a friend, and a steady source of support has been one of the most meaningful parts of joining this family. She brings warmth, wisdom, and a whole lot of heart wherever she goes. And while she may not be the loudest in the room, she’s always the one you’re grateful is in it.
Best Man
At just 7 years old, Cayden is already the heart of this family. The love between him and his dad Nathan is something truly special — deep, steady, and full of warmth. Nathan’s devotion to Cayden is clear in every smile, every shared moment on the golf course or fishing boat, and every hug that says, “I’m always here.” Marissa’s bond with Cayden is just as strong. Since they first met when he was nearly three, they’ve become best friends—partners in laughter, adventures, and growing together as a family. Marissa treasures every moment with Cayden, especially those times when he reminds her what unconditional love really means.
Best Man
Anthony isn’t just Nathan’s little brother — he’s his lifelong rival, teammate, and occasional airsoft opponent. Growing up, their version of “quality time” included backyard airsoft wars with questionable safety rules, hours of driveway basketball that usually ended in someone yelling “one more game,” and the kind of brotherly banter that only got sharper with age. Despite being younger, Anthony’s always acted like he had something to prove — and usually, he did. But under the trash talk and the sibling competitions was a deep loyalty that never wavered. Whether it was tagging along on teenage adventures or backing each other up in the moments that mattered, Anthony has always been right there. When Nathan met Marissa, Anthony was one of the first to know — not just because brothers share everything, but because Nathan needed that little brother sign-off. And of course, Anthony delivered it in classic form: “She seems cool... don’t screw it up.” (He didn’t.)
Groomsman
Ted started out as Nathan’s mentor at Belle Tire, but their relationship quickly grew into a true friendship. They connected over the challenges of work, then over the shared chaos of raising kids despite the age difference. Ted and Nathan can often be found at the campground, unwinding and swapping stories away from the noise of everyday life. When they’re not there, they’re in the barn, diving into all the “guy stuff” only they understand, and sharing inappropriate jokes that are definitely not safe for public ears. And somewhere in between, there have been countless hours of drunken cornhole — the kind of friendly competition that gets a little too intense after a few beers. Ted was also one of the first people Nathan told about the proposal, offering all the advice he could to make sure everything went smoothly — advice Nathan definitely needed and appreciated. More than just a mentor or friend, Ted has become like a brother to Nathan — someone who’s been there through it all. Having Ted in the groom’s party means celebrating this milestone alongside one of the most loyal and down-to-earth people Nathan knows.
Groomsman
Mitchell is Marissa’s older brother and my quiet but steady partner in crime. When we first met, neither of us said much — which, given our personalities, was pretty expected. But once we started warming up, it became clear we shared a genuine connection. I knew we’d become best buddies when I saw us caring for each other’s kids like pros. Growing up, Mitchell was the kind of older brother who made Marissa watch Snakes on a Plane over and over again, despite her tears. But beyond the sibling teasing, he’s become a devoted dad and a rock-solid family man who’s always ready to help out at a moment’s notice. One of the moments I’ll never forget is when Mitchell helped me ask Marissa’s dad for her hand in marriage — guiding me through the nerves and making sure I didn’t mess it up. That kind of support is exactly why I’m proud to have him in by my side today. Mitchell isn’t just my future wife’s brother — he’s a loyal friend, a dependable support system, and the guy who will show up no matter what.
Groomsman
Brandon and Nathan met back in middle school — long before Brandon started dating (and eventually got engaged to) Nathan’s sister, Olivia. Nathan’s first impression? “Pretty cool guy.” Years later, that impression still holds true… with the added twist that now Brandon is family. Brandon is the “always a great time” kind of friend — the one who turns an ordinary afternoon into a full-blown event. He and Nathan share a deep love for golf, though if we’re being honest, it’s mostly just an excuse to drive the cart, drink a few beers, and call it a sport. He’s the life of the party, the future rich uncle to everyone’s kids, and the guy you want around when you need a laugh, a wingman, or a really questionable idea at 1 a.m. Nathan’s favorite memory with Brandon? The housewarming party. And that’s all we’re legally allowed to say about that. Brandon brings energy, loyalty, and a whole lot of fun wherever he goes — and having him in the groom’s party just made sense. Every group needs a party starter, a golf buddy, and a best friend who somehow became family — and for Nathan, that’s Brandon.
Groomsman
John and Nathan met in 2021 while working at Belle Tire, and it didn’t take long for their shared love of dark humor and wildly inappropriate jokes to turn into a solid friendship. Most of their conversations are equal parts roasting and sarcasm — which, in their language, is basically love. Their friendship is built on quick wit, mutual respect, and the kind of banter that would definitely get them kicked out of a formal dinner. And while John might act like the guy who’s just there for the jokes, he also played a pretty important role in this whole wedding thing — he’s the one who received and safely delivered the engagement ring. So technically, John is the reason we’re all here today. He’s the guy who keeps things light, keeps Nathan in check, and never misses a chance to crack a joke at the perfect (or most inappropriate) time. Having John in the groom’s party was an easy choice — because every groom needs a friend who brings humor, loyalty, and just enough chaos to keep things interesting.
Ring Bearer
Theo may be only three years old, but he’s already mastered the art of stealing the show. As the ring bearer, he’ll be walking down the aisle with the confidence of someone who’s definitely done this before in his living room — probably wearing pajamas and holding a stuffed animal. He’s got a big personality packed into a little frame, and while no one’s totally sure if he’ll walk, run, or power-slide to the altar, one thing’s for sure: he’s going to be adorable doing it. Theo is loved beyond words by both Marissa and Nathan, and having him be part of their wedding day means everything. Whether he delivers the rings perfectly or just waves at the crowd mid-aisle, he’ll be making memories (and probably a few people cry from cuteness).
Ring Bearer
At almost two years old, Bennett is the youngest member of the wedding party and definitely the wildcard. As ring bearer, his official duties include holding onto something shiny (hopefully the rings), looking ridiculously cute, and maybe taking a spontaneous detour mid-aisle. No promises. What he lacks in height, he makes up for in personality. Bennett is sweet, silly, and completely unpredictable — in the best way. Whether he walks down the aisle, dances, or gets distracted by something sparkly halfway through, one thing’s for sure: he’ll have the crowd smiling. Marissa and Nathan adore Bennett, and having him in the wedding is about more than tradition — it’s about sharing their day with someone who’s already brought so much joy into their lives. Just don’t be surprised if he steals the spotlight... and maybe a cupcake.
