Local Things To Do

We're excited to share a few of our favorite Maine places with you while you're visiting.

Bangor- Bagel Central

33 Central Street, Bangor, ME 04401

Classic, local breakfast spot. Authentic kosher bagels, and yummy baked goods. Breakfast: Andrew’s fav is a bagelwich with egg, cheese, mushroom, on an everything bagel. Lunch: Karen's fav is The Opera House on house made rye.

Bangor- Chimera Coffee

Bangor- Chimera Coffee

24 Broad Street, Bangor, ME 04401

Our favorite place for a Sunday coffee date. Either cappuccino or decaf breve latte! If you like to have a stroll in the morning, check out the Brewer Riverwalk just over the bridge. It's a sweet little path that moseys along the river.

Bangor- Lunch/Dinner at Timber Kitchen & Bar, and check out the Paul Bunyan statue

22 Bass Park Boulevard, Bangor, ME 04401

Our first date spot! Timber is consistent- good service, good food, elevated yet cozy atmosphere, and reasonably priced. And, a trip to Bangor isn't complete without seeing the city's Paul Bunyan statue, which reminds us of the area's logging history.

Belfast- Delvino's Grill & Pasta House

52 Main Street, Belfast, ME 04915

Delvino’s is where we had our 4th date and continues to be one of our “let’s go there” spots when we’re up for a little drive. Home-made pastas, and delicious desserts. If you’re in town on Tuesday, you’re in luck- “Two for Tuesday” special is a deal! Enjoy taking a walk through the shops in town, and down to the water.

Boothbay Harbor- Footbridge, ice cream, and dinner

1 Footbridge, Boothbay Harbor, ME 04538

We absolutely love Boothbay Harbor. If it wasn’t so far out of the way, it would’ve been the location of our wedding. We’ve spent countless days wandering the town, and even more being rocked by the waves of the harbor as we read a book on the bow of the boat in the sun. Snag an ice cream from the Ice Cream Factory and walk through town-- the foot bridge is a must, and connects both sides of the harbor. Karen’s fav: peach, in a chocolate dipped cone Andrew’s fav: cake batter in a sugar cone To finish the day, have dinner at Ports of Italy (one of our go-to dinner spots). Always delicious, authentic, and great service. Since it’s tough to choose a dessert, we always each choose two and share. Buon appetito!

Bar Harbor- Breakfast at 2 Cats Bar Harbor & explore Acadia National Park

Bar Harbor- Breakfast at 2 Cats Bar Harbor & explore Acadia National Park

130 Cottage Street, Bar Harbor, ME 04609

2 Cats is one of Karen's favorites for breakfast. Local, full farmer's style breakfast with fresh organic coffee and buttermilk biscuits with strawberry butter. Good spot for breakfast before biking the Acadia Park carriage trails, spending the day at Sand Beach, or otherwise exploring the park.

Deer Isle- Aragosta at Goose Cove

Deer Isle- Aragosta at Goose Cove

300 Goose Cove Road, Deer Isle, ME 04627

To us, this is the most special place in all of Maine. We first visited Aragosta on our motorcycles. We parked the bikes, walked around, enjoyed the beach, and agreed with each other that we'd come back again. And we did. We celebrated our first dating anniversary here and had the best meal of our lives. As luck would have it, there was one last cabin available for the night, so we spontaneously chose to stay. A couple of years later, we returned to celebrate our third dating anniversary a day early. After another wonderful meal, we wandered onto the beach and... got engaged. If you have the time for a day trip and the chance to enjoy a lovely (yes, a bit pricey, but absolutely worth it) meal overlooking a quiet Maine Harbor, we highly recommend it. The food is incredible, and the atmosphere is quintessential Maine— elevated but not stuffy. Karen's bucket list item: dine in one of the private greenhouses!

Penobscot Narrows Bridge Observatory

740 Fort Knox Road, Prospect, ME 04981

Many of our summer dates included driving over the Penobscot Narrows bridge in the convertible, and I always loved looking down at the river. We enjoyed a river boating trip one afternoon and it’s a neat sight from the water as well. The observatory is the tallest bridge observatory in the world open to the public and has great views.

The Club

The Club

12 Cape Docks Rd, Stockton Springs, ME 04981

Just a short drive away is Stockton Springs, where we launched the boat for many of our adventures- including our second date! While you’re there, we recommend stopping by The Club for a bite to eat.

Portland- Dinner at Solo Italiano

100 Commercial Street, Portland, ME 04101

We love it here! Enjoy!

Portland- Dessert or mid-day snack- Gorgeous Gelato

434 Fore Street, Portland, ME 04101

The best gelato we have found since Italy. Karen's fav: combo of Pistacchio and Nacciola Andrew's fav: Tiramisu Enjoy a little snack while you walk downtown Portland's waterfront and shop.

Portland- Dinner at The Knotted Apron

496 Woodford Street, Portland, ME 04103

It's a small restaurant in Portland that served a delicious meal.
