Classic, local breakfast spot. Authentic kosher bagels, and yummy baked goods. Breakfast: Andrew’s fav is a bagelwich with egg, cheese, mushroom, on an everything bagel. Lunch: Karen's fav is The Opera House on house made rye.
Our first date spot! Timber is consistent- good service, good food, elevated yet cozy atmosphere, and reasonably priced. And, a trip to Bangor isn't complete without seeing the city's Paul Bunyan statue, which reminds us of the area's logging history.
Delvino’s is where we had our 4th date and continues to be one of our “let’s go there” spots when we’re up for a little drive. Home-made pastas, and delicious desserts. If you’re in town on Tuesday, you’re in luck- “Two for Tuesday” special is a deal! Enjoy taking a walk through the shops in town, and down to the water.
We absolutely love Boothbay Harbor. If it wasn’t so far out of the way, it would’ve been the location of our wedding. We’ve spent countless days wandering the town, and even more being rocked by the waves of the harbor as we read a book on the bow of the boat in the sun. Snag an ice cream from the Ice Cream Factory and walk through town-- the foot bridge is a must, and connects both sides of the harbor. Karen’s fav: peach, in a chocolate dipped cone Andrew’s fav: cake batter in a sugar cone To finish the day, have dinner at Ports of Italy (one of our go-to dinner spots). Always delicious, authentic, and great service. Since it’s tough to choose a dessert, we always each choose two and share. Buon appetito!
2 Cats is one of Karen's favorites for breakfast. Local, full farmer's style breakfast with fresh organic coffee and buttermilk biscuits with strawberry butter. Good spot for breakfast before biking the Acadia Park carriage trails, spending the day at Sand Beach, or otherwise exploring the park.
To us, this is the most special place in all of Maine. We first visited Aragosta on our motorcycles. We parked the bikes, walked around, enjoyed the beach, and agreed with each other that we'd come back again. And we did. We celebrated our first dating anniversary here and had the best meal of our lives. As luck would have it, there was one last cabin available for the night, so we spontaneously chose to stay. A couple of years later, we returned to celebrate our third dating anniversary a day early. After another wonderful meal, we wandered onto the beach and... got engaged. If you have the time for a day trip and the chance to enjoy a lovely (yes, a bit pricey, but absolutely worth it) meal overlooking a quiet Maine Harbor, we highly recommend it. The food is incredible, and the atmosphere is quintessential Maine— elevated but not stuffy. Karen's bucket list item: dine in one of the private greenhouses!
Many of our summer dates included driving over the Penobscot Narrows bridge in the convertible, and I always loved looking down at the river. We enjoyed a river boating trip one afternoon and it’s a neat sight from the water as well. The observatory is the tallest bridge observatory in the world open to the public and has great views.
We love it here! Enjoy!
The best gelato we have found since Italy. Karen's fav: combo of Pistacchio and Nacciola Andrew's fav: Tiramisu Enjoy a little snack while you walk downtown Portland's waterfront and shop.
It's a small restaurant in Portland that served a delicious meal.
