Getting to Harbour Island via North Eleuthera Airport

Getting to Harbour Island (Dunmore Town) is part of the fun! The easiest way is to fly into North Eleuthera Airport (ELH). Carriers offering direct service to ELH include Silver Airways from Fort Lauderdale, American Airlines from Miami, and Delta Airlines from Atlanta. Once you touch down at ELH, simply collect your luggage, grab a beer (or two) from the bar across the street, and let one of the waiting taxis know that you are headed to Harbour Island. In five minutes you'll be at the dock and directed to the water taxis that depart for Harbour Island every 10 mins. Hop on for a five minute boat ride and you've MADE IT! Total Travel time from the airport to Harbour Island should take approximately 15 minutes.

Getting to Harbour Island via Nassau

You can also fly into Nassau Airport (NAS). Once there, you will need to make a separate connection with one of the three airlines that provide regular direct service to Eleuthera (ELH): Southern Air, Bahamasair and Pineapple Air. Once you touch down at ELH, simply collect your luggage, grab a beer (or two) from the bar across the street, and let one of the waiting taxis know that you are headed to Harbour Island. In five minutes you'll be at the dock and directed to the water taxis that depart for Harbour Island every 10 mins. Hop on for a five minute boat ride and you've MADE IT! Total Travel time from the airport to Harbour Island should take approximately 15 minutes. Alternatively, you can take the daily 8:00am ferry to Harbour Island. The ferry arrives around 10:30am. The ferry from Nassau leaves from a port that is a 45-minute taxi ride from the Nassau airport.

Golf Cart Rental

While the island isn’t huge (3.5 miles in length), if you want to leave your resort/hotel, it’s may be a trek to walk everywhere you need to go. It is recommended to rent a golf cart (the preferred method of transportation!) to get around. Whether you rent your golf cart yourself (more information below) or your resort/hotel concierge helps to arrange a golf cart rental for you, it is best to arrange this before you get to the island (even if you only want to rent a cart for one specific day). You can pick up your golf cart once you arrive, at the dock, or most rental companies are very accommodating and will bring your cart to where you are staying.
