August 21st 2020 was the most exciting day of our lives. Anthony asked Lauren to marry him and without hesitation, she said "YES!". It had been a crazy year up to this point to say the least, but our engagement weekend couldn't have been more perfect. Shortly after our engagament, we found a venue that we loved. It was the 2nd venue we toured and we knew it was "the one". We wrote the deposit check to seal the deal and it was official; November 13th, 2021 would be our wedding date. Come February 2021, we recieved an update from our venue stating they would be cancelling all events for the remainder of the year, asked us for our address to send back the deposit check, and that was that! We had signed on with multiple vendors up to this point, including our catering company, photographer, florist and DJ, but we were back to square one with the most important detail...the venue. Committing to big decisions for wedding planning during COVID with the amount of uncertainty became stressful, so we decided to take a breather after the initial venue cancellation. As the vaccine successfully rolled out and the city started to enter phase 4 of re-opening, we were ready to get back on the horse and start planning again. We looked at a couple venues and while each had their appeal, we didn't have the same excitement as we did with our initial choice. We were starting to feel a little hopeless, but we were very hopeful for the last venue tour we had set up. If you know Chicago, you know that the month of April can bring snow, rain, or a sunny, 70 degree day. We toured Artifact Events on April 23rd 2021 and we could tell from the look on eachother's faces that this was it. This was "the one". This happened to be one of those beautiful, sunny, 70-degree April days. The first available wedding date in spring of 2022 happened to be April 23rd. The decision for us was easy. It was fate! We look forward to celebrating with you on April 23rd, 2022!
