Nate and Alex met on the evening of September 24, 2024, at a spot in Royal Oak they had agreed on for their first date. After matching on Bumble, they had spent the previous couple of weeks texting and were both secretly hoping their in-person chemistry would be just as easy as their text conversations had been. Alex chose the location for their first date since Nate was driving to her area (what a gentleman!) and she knew the neighborhood well. She picked North End Taproom, a beer hall in Royal Oak. Alex had never been before, but the Google reviews were solid, so she thought...why not? From the moment they met, Alex remembers feeling completely at ease with Nate, as if she were reconnecting with an old friend. Nate recalls Alex being charming and funny (accurately so). They quickly bonded over a shared and slightly humbling experience: neither of them could figure out how to order a drink. After about fifteen minutes of attempting to decode the “high-tech” system - bracelets, waving at taps, and general confusion - they decided they might be a bit too old for this situation and made a graceful exit to a nearby restaurant instead. The rest of the evening was spent laughing and talking about their lives, interests, and their shared experience of having a little head. On his way home that night, Nate texted Alex saying he’d love to see her again. Alex agreed, and they planned their next date for just two days later. It’s been smooth sailing ever since :)
