Question

Is Ghana safe for US travelers?

Answer

Yes. Ghana is widely known as one of the safest and most welcoming countries in West Africa. As with any international travel, staying aware of your surroundings and following standard precautions is encouraged. In fact, Ghana is considered so welcoming that in 2019, during the national Year of Return initiative, the government granted citizenship to 126 people of African descent, many of whom were Americans reconnecting with their heritage. This movement highlighted Ghana as a safe, stable, and deeply hospitable place for visitors and members of the diaspora.
