Transportation and Navigation

Additional Info

Driving: Renting a car is common for out-of-town guests, especially if you plan to explore Dallas or Fort Worth. Highways are well marked, but traffic can be heavy during rush hour. Many major roads in North Dallas have toll lanes, so be aware that rental cars may charge toll fees automatically. Rideshare: Uber and Lyft are the simplest ways to get around. Rideshares are widely available throughout Dallas and Fort Worth for sightseeing. Parking: Frisco and McKinney have plenty of free or low-cost parking. In Dallas and Fort Worth, museums, downtown areas, and entertainment districts usually have paid garages or lots that accept cards. Public Transit: The DART system serves Dallas but does not extend into Frisco or McKinney, so it isn’t practical as your main transportation. However, it can be useful if you’re exploring areas like Downtown Dallas, the Arts District, or Plano.

Packing Tips

Early May in North Texas

Weather Expectations: Early May in North Texas is warm, with daytime highs typically 75–85°F (24–29°C) and evenings around 60–70°F (15–21°C). It’s usually sunny, but brief spring showers or thunderstorms are possible, so packing a light rain jacket or umbrella is wise. Humidity can be moderate to high (60–70%), especially in the afternoons. Wedding Attire: Hope and Andrew ask that guests come dressed up—not black tie, but polished and elegant, similar to what you would wear for a very nice evening out. Men might choose slacks with a dress shirt or sport coat; women may prefer dresses, skirts, or dressy jumpsuits. The wedding party and immediate family will be very dressed up, so guests are welcome to elevate their look accordingly. Adapters & Electronics: U.S. outlets are Type A/B (110–120V), so international guests will need a power adapter. A portable phone charger is useful for full sightseeing days or navigating around Dallas / Fort Worth. Sun Protection: Early May brings strong Texas sun, so pack sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat—especially if visiting outdoor attractions, parks, or the Stockyards. Lip balm and moisturizer can also be helpful due to shifting humidity. Casual Daywear: Guests will be comfortable with casual, warm-weather clothing—short sleeves, jeans, shorts, sundresses, or light layers. Evenings may feel cooler after sunset, so a cardigan, denim jacket, or light sweater is recommended.

Local Dining & Food

Frisco / McKinney Area (Pre-/Post-Wedding)

Here are some local restaurants you might enjoy. Because the wedding will include a full sit-down dinner with appetizers, mocktails, and desserts, these restaurants are ideal for meals before the wedding day, on arrival, or for exploring the next day. Cava A fresh, casual Mediterranean restaurant that’s one of Hope and Andrew’s favorites. Great for build-your-own bowls, salads, or wraps. Perfect for a light lunch or relaxed dinner before or after wedding festivities. TruFire Kitchen & Bar A guest-friendly spot with modern American and Mediterranean-inspired dishes—pizzas, pastas, salads, and great shareable plates. A warm atmosphere and moderate prices make it ideal for couples, families, or groups. Cristina’s Fine Mexican Restaurant A cozy Tex-Mex restaurant with classics like fajitas, enchiladas, tacos, and warm hospitality. A good option for anyone wanting a casual meal with generous portions and comforting flavors.
