How We Met

Summer 2016

We met at the gym, more specifically the Chambersburg YMCA. I was home from CA for a few months but planning on heading back when the summer was over. After weeks of staring at me from across the gym Jeb mustered up the courage to introduce himself to first my brother and then me. I thought his name was Jeff and seemed very full of himself, but nonetheless, I was curious. Shortly after the initial meeting he asked me to join him for a hike to Chimney rocks. I accepted and we ended up having a wonderful time. From that day on we were pretty inseparable. We had our up's and down's in the beginning, and certainly tested one another. During those first few months I fell in love with Jeb's charm, kind heart, and how he just lets me be me, and the rest is history. Now, Jeb's version. Back in the summer of 2016, I was dedicated to physical fitness and looked pretty good working out in my high school football cut-off tees. After a few weeks of noticing a really attractive blond trying to catch my eye at the Y, I decided to introduce myself. En route to the introduction, a grinning Ted Zimmerman popped into my path. I surmised that Honor, smitten with me, had informed Ted of same which led to Ted & I bro helloing each other at the gym and me noticing that Ted & Honor were inextricably linked and likely siblings. In any event, I felt compelled to introduce myself to smiling Ted before I reached stretching Honor. Once I got past Ted, I was smitten. As physically stunning as Honor was (is), it paled in comparison her energy, grace and edge. After a few gym conversations, I made a plan to ask Honor to go on a hike date. She said yes! I walked away without asking for her number (happy to get the yes!) but luckily Honor stopped me, gave me her number and has made light of my nervous oversight ever since. We hiked. It was great. And I knew within weeks that I loved her. It took Honor a little more convincing, but I stayed persistent and here we lovebirds are!

The Proposal

11.30.2019

We were on our way to Baltimore for the weekend to see the Raven's play the 49ers with Jeb's cousin Katie, Katie's husband Travis, and Jeb's sister Lexie. Jeb wanted to go down the day before so we could spend the night in the city, eat some yummy food and get out of dodge. On the way there Jeb took me to one of my favorite Vegan restaurants called the Great Sage. After dinner we stopped in some cute shops around the restaurant and then went to the store to get supplies for the game the next day. Jeb seemed in a hurry and antsy to get out of the store. We checked out in a flash and walked outside to the car. Jeb tossed the bags in his trunk and hurried to get the door for me. Before I could get in the passenger seat he got down on one knee, pulled a ring out of his jeans pocket and asked me to marry him! I was so surprised but so excited. I asked him to redo the proposal later anywhere that wasn't a parking lot. He laughed, but complied. Later that night, and much more prepared and a lot less nervous, he got down on one knee again and asked me in the inner harbor. So listen, I just want to let it be known that I planned to ask Honor to marry me at the restaurant - one of her favorites. It's well known that Honor after good food is a much more agreeable babe. We were kind of crammed into the restaurant though. I knew it wasn't right to include the patrons 2 feet to our right and left in on the proposal. So I went back to the drawing board. I had to pull the trigger that day because I couldn't wait any longer. And I couldn't wait until we got to the Inner Harbor because my research revealed that there were no nail salons open late anywhere close to our hotel (a freshly engaged woman will definitely take pictures of her ring and will damn sure want some freshly painted nails, right?). There was, however, a nail salon open late in the strip mall right next to the restaurant. So, parking lot proposal it was and it was glorious!

For all the days along the way
