Music gets us every time. We both love the blues, a good horn section and a little funk.
He swiped right (thank you Plenty of Fish), and our first in-person encounter was at the Salty Dog. We chatted for hours, losing track of time until the staff started sweeping the floors to close for the night. Over the next few days, we went out three more times, and since then, the conversations haven't stopped. Sharing a love of live music, Mark's tastes are little more **loud** than Angela's scene. Because of him, she's expanded her musical repertoire to include metal mariachi music (Metalachi), Ministry (believe me, it's not a church thing) and she's even been in a mosh pit! Who knows what is next? Mark has enjoyed her love of old school Lou Rawls, singer-songwriter Kat Edmonson (velvety vintage pop) and sassy country singers (such as Kaitlyn Butts). Although Mark considers it his job, he occasionally let's her play DJ on their porch patio nights. Ask him if he regrets buying her a tambourine and karaoke machine during Covid...I'm sure the answer is yes, but there's no going back now. Their shared love of blues and a good horn section has lead them to trips to New Orleans and Clarksdale, Mississippi. The song above captures it well -- Thank you for Funkin' up my Life.
