In true Wisconsin fashion, we met at a bar. It was the end of spring semester in 2014. Yet another round of final exams were behind us, and there was lots of celebrating to do. As fate would have it, Sara and I decided to head west down State Street instead of east. "Brats" was not a regular stop. In fact, we had never gone there once. Regardless, it wasn't long after we started dancing that Sara said, "That guy wants to dance with you." I turned and locked eyes with the most handsome creature I had ever seen. We were drawn together like magnets, but after a few songs, I heard the lamest excuse I could possibly think of. He needed to leave because he was working. Working?! He wasn't working. He was out drinking and dancing. He really could've come up with something more believable, so I was surprised when he asked for my number before he left. Soon after I received a text message, "Meet us at Wando's." What the heck?! This guy clearly wasn't working. He had just moved on to the next bar with his friends. I informed him that my friends and I were going to Wendy's to enjoy a classic post-bar baked potato before calling it a night. We went on our first date a week later, and it turns out he really was working that fateful night we met. He was hosting the first ever Madison Pub Crawl. We talked about that and many other things as we cruised around Capitol Square on his moped. After a few laps under the city lights, we headed west for Observatory Hill. Under the twinkling stars we watched as red foxes emerged from their dens to hunt for mice. It was magic as they pounced all over the hillside. We deemed the tradition "fox spotting," and so began our adventure together.
