Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Rachael Holt and Tim Koch
Richmond is full of charm, history, and great food - we’re so excited for you to experience it! Whether you’re looking to explore scenic parks, vibrant neighborhoods, or cozy local spots, there’s something here for everyone. Check out a few of our favorite recommendations while you’re in town!

Downtown

Richmond, VA

Great spots near the hotels: Secret Sandwich Society, Pearly's, Fall Line (in the Marriott), Rappahannock Restaurant, Tarrant Cafe

Carytown

Richmond, VA 23221

Known for its eclectic mix of boutiques, restaurants and bars - Carytown is the perfect mile walk for a day out. Fun Fact: Rachael's grandfather (Papa) grew up in this neighborhood! Our favorite restaurants: Fire and Hops (our go-to Friday date night spot), New York Deli, East Coast Provisions, Can Can Brasserie Our favorite shops: Mongrel (great for unique RVA gifts!), Penzey's Spices, Buffalo Exchange (thrift store)

Scott's Addition Historic District

Richmond, VA 23230

A trendy neighborhood filled with breweries, cideries, and eateries. Our favorite spots: Lucky AF (seriously the best sushi ever! If you go, try the Samurai Roll), Nate’s Bagels, Fat Dragon, Brambly Park, Ardent Brewery, Starhill Brewery

Church Hill

Richmond, VA

Rich in history, this neighborhood offers charming streets and notable sites like St. John's Church, where Patrick Henry delivered his famous speech. Fun Fact: One of our first dates was here and we took our engagement photos at Libbie Hill Park Our favorite spots: Liberty Public House (great for brunch or anytime!), Alamo, Union Market, Hill Cafe

Venture Richmond

200 South 3rd Street, Richmond, VA 23219

We could list all of these out - but we like to work smarter, not harder. Venture Richmond has everything listed out great for all things downtown!

The James River

Richmond, VA

The James River runs through the heart of Richmond! We recommend exploring Belle Isle, Shiplock Park, and Buttermilk Trail, however you can't go wrong if you enjoy the outdoors!

Virginia Museum of Fine Arts

200 North Arthur Ashe Boulevard, Richmond, VA 23220

Fun Fact: this is where we got engaged! This museum is free to the public. Close to Carytown.
