From Hartford, CT, you can expect the drive to take approximately 3.5 hours without heavy traffic.
Columbus Day Weekend is expected to be the peak of fall foliage season in Vermont. We highly recommend making travel plans as soon as possible as there are very few places in the area and they fill quickly.
Dinner will be an upscale barbecue offering brisket, salmon, pork loin and chicken. Sides and passed appetizers will also be served.
Westmore is in the Northeast Kingdom Region (NEK) of Vermont which is the most northeastern part of the state bordering Canada. Westmore is served by the post office of Orleans. Westmore is a very small town with only 342 residents, one eat-in restaurant and one general store. However, it offers breathtaking views of the iconic Lake Willoughby, often compared to the fjords of Norway. Lake Willoughby is an impressive 400 feet deep and almost 7 miles long. Mount Pisgah and Mount Hor frame either side of Lake Willoughby forming the dramatic Willoughby Gap. Lake Willoughby is the largest lake completely within the state of Vermont and boasts some of the best fishing in New England.
Probably not. Be prepared that you may lose service not too long after getting off the highway. However, the Notch House has wi-fi throughout the property. Be sure to check with your accomodations for wi-fi as a listed amenity.
You are welcome to stay as long or short as your schedule allows. We will have the Notch House property available all day Sunday and the morning of Columbus Day (Monday) for guests to return and enjoy the trails, fishing, reading or just hang out and grill with us! We hope this will be an opportunity for those who can stay a few days to get a little rest and relaxation!
