Question

1. Is everyone attending vaccinated?

Answer

Assuming all of our guests have been honest in their responses, every guest attending on Saturday will be vaccinated; there will be no other diners at the restaurant on Saturday. In addition: • avec has a company policy that each employee either (i) is vaccinated or (ii) provides a negative COVID test before each shift. • BOKA has a company policy that each employee either (i) is vaccinated or (ii) provides a weekly negative COVID test. • our vendors have confirmed they are vaccinated. We are permitting guests to include their children at the welcome reception on Friday and brunch on Sunday. So, there may be unvaccinated children in attendance on Friday or Sunday. There will be no children at iO (rooftop bar) on Friday or Saturday, but there could be others in the bar (not in our reserved space) that are not vaccinated.

2. When and where will we be required to wear masks?

Answer

An indoor “mask mandate” is in effect in Chicago, regardless of vaccination status. So, each guest should carry a mask with them and wear the mask in all indoor spaces, as a baseline rule, including in restaurants, like BOKA. Exceptions include (i) when someone is eating and drinking and (ii) of course, in a hotel room. We will have masks and hand sanitizer on hand at all events.

3. How are you handling comfort level with physical touching?

Answer

Our guests include, among others, pregnant women, immunocompromised people, and families trying to keep their kids in in-person school. So, we are instituting a baseline rule that our guests should not hug, kiss, make-out with each other, windmill high-five, etc., unless they are going home with each other (or your parents or siblings). We considered the ribbons, bracelets, and other methods, but, at the end of the day, we’d prefer to limit the amount of physical touching as a baseline rule.

4. When will outdoor space be available?

Answer

o avec: avec does not have outdoor space, but feel free to take breaks outdoors through a private entrance. o iO: we have reserved outdoor space at the rooftop bar until midnight. At that point, iO has to shift everyone indoors due to City of Chicago noise ordinances. At that point, you are welcome to stick around in the indoor space or of course, head out. o Shuttle: It is a shared shuttle bus for our guests (and only our guests), so there may be several vaccinated people on the shuttle at a single time. Please feel free to hail a cab if you would prefer transportation with fewer people. o BOKA: - The ceremony/cocktail hour/dancing is in a mixed indoor/outdoor space. - Dinner will be served in the restaurant indoor dining room. Indoor/outdoor space will be available at all times. - We are well under the maximum number of guests that may be present in the indoor dining room. o Condo: we have a large outdoor balcony where guests will be able to eat/mingle.
