Go cool off from the summer heat at Deyo. Deyo Reservoir is a great place to go swimming, fishing, hiking, kayaking, or have a picnic under the shaded picnic shelter. There is a nice 1 mile trail that goes around the entire lake. Bring your canoe, kayak, or stand up paddleboard, or you can rent them for the day from the Weippe Discovery Center if any are available. Deyo has a large camground for both tent campers and RV's. Deyo is a short drive to the wedding venue and a great place to camp if you'd like. Call early to get a reservation!
Stop along HWY 12 on your way to or from the wedding near the town of Syringa to find tons of Blackberries all along the highway and Lochsa river bank that will be ready to pick the time of the wedding! Stop anywhere along the HWY in Syringa and look for the big blackberry bushes that line the highway. Bring gloves, as the bushes have thorns. You can also find blackberries along the Greer grade and other locations along the drive to Weippe.
Take a drive into the mountains outside of Weippe or Peirce and look for Huckleberries. They will be ready to pick the time of the wedding! The higher up you go the more huckleberries you might find. The huckleberry bushes will be found at higher elevations along forested trails. They are so good!
In Lowell, ID, turn and drive up the Selway River. One of Idaho's most scenic whitewater rivers. Fantastic views and fishing.
