It was a couple of weeks after quarantine in 2020, when Mike found himself in Grand Rapids along with a friend. After golfing, Mike's friend wanted to visit his significant other who lived in the area. This significant other happened to be the roommate of Holland. Holland and Mike immediatly hit it off. They stayed up all night talking, even though Holland had her first shift at the hospital the next morning. The next day, Mike made Holland blueberry pancakes at 4:30 AM, and then had to drive two hours back to where he lived outside of Detroit. For the next year and a half, Mike and Holland continued to drive the two hours at least once a week to see each other, until it became too much. In 2021, Mike made the move to Grand Rapids to live with Holland AND to save a lot of money on gas. In 2023, they bought their first house together where they live with their dog Zadina and two cats Frankie and Ginny.
