Chelsea and Dom went to high school together (one year apart) but didn't find each other until the summer of 2019 when they met on Hinge in Philly! After Chelsea vetted Dom through her best friend Meaghan's husband Brandon ("good kid" was all he had to say), they went on their first date to Charlie was a sinner, a cocktail bar in Center City, followed by a visit to a local dive bar called Dirty Franks. Little did they know they would name their dog Charlie three years later! Maybe their second dog should be named Frank? Their first vacation was to New Orleans in March of 2020, right as the world began to shut down. They experienced one of the only times Bourbon Street has ever shut down. As the pandemic raged on, they spent a lot of time together cooking, baking, working out at home, and attempting to give Dom an at-home haircut (it wasn't half bad). In 2021, they spent a month together in Asheville, NC and as soon as they got back to Philly, they started looking at homes to buy together. They ended up buying the first house they looked at and have loved making it their home ever since! In 2022, their new puppy labradoodle Charlie took over their lives (in a good way!). Charlie keeps them on their toes with his antics and squeaky toys (he's squeaking one right now as I type this). After getting engaged, Chelsea and Dom are excited to be diving straight into wedding planning mode!
Dom envisioned proposing to Chelsea with the whole city skyline in view. Where better than Belmont Plateau? Only challenge would be getting Chelsea there without raising suspicion, but Dom was up for the challenge. The Japanese Gardens are right down the road from Belmont Plateau, so Dom started scheming up a plan to create a fake "brunch in the Japanese Gardens" to lure Chelsea to the spot, inclusive of a fake flier! Their friends John and Alexa were in on the scheme and "invited" Chelsea and Dom to the brunch to throw her off the scent. When the morning of October 8th came, Chelsea was knee deep researching Japanese culture and etiquette all morning, and Dom breathed a sigh of relief - she really thought she was going to brunch. As they drove up to Fairmount Park and parked at Belmont Plateau, Chelsea insisted they weren't at the right place and refused to walk the rest of the way. "Let's just get out of the car and admire the view," Dom said. It was happening. As they walked into the open field, Ed Sheeran's "Perfect" started playing in the distance, and Dom said WTF in his head. His photographer had secretly asked an exercise group in the distance to play a romantic song when they saw a couple approach. Dom talked about their past and their future, dropped to one knee, and asked Chelsea to marry him. After she said yes (!!) she quickly realized that there was in fact no brunch planned. Little did she know that Dom had planned for their close family and friends to be waiting for them at one of their favorite restaurants in their neighborhood, where they ate, drank, and partied the rest of the day.
