No. We are having a Masquerade Ball for our reception for fun, not to torture you! If you opt not to wear a Masquerade costume, please dress in a formal or black tie fashion and enjoy yourself! There will be a few masks on hand at the reception if you decide that you want to join in.
The history of the Masquerade Ball, according to the internet: "Masquerade balls were extended into costumed public festivities in Italy during the 16th century Renaissance (Italian, maschera). They were generally elaborate dances held for members of the upper classes, and were particularly popular in Venice. They have been associated with the tradition of the Venetian Carnival." We are throwing one for our reception because we love fancy dress up parties, costumes and history!
A Masquerade Costume: We are very lucky to have an amazing costume rental shop owned and operated by our friend Kyra in Redmond, Washington (a hop across the i-90 bridge from Seattle)! Kyra is coordinating our wedding party's costumes! She and her staff can help you put together something just right! If you want to rent a Masquerade costume, we suggest going in anytime between now and September and reserving your costume, or doing it online. Then you'll be sure to have it for the wedding weekend (considering that it's just a few days after Halloween)! Formal/Black Tie attire: If a Masquerade costume isn't in your happiness, just get all shined up some on out in something classy to celebrate with us!
We are currently looking into it and will keep you updated on the site! Check back.
We're currently looking into suggested lodging. We will update the "travel" page on this website by the end of April.
