Question

What do I need to know about a Catholic wedding ceremony?

Answer

This is the most important part of our day and we are so thankful to have our family and friends celebrate with us! All should feel welcome. Prayers will be printed in the programs for you to follow along with if you would like. The Mass will likely last about an hour. You may participate in prayer as you are comfortable. Generally, all will sit or stand at the same time. If you are not able or not comfortable kneeling during times of prayer, you are welcome to remain seated. The Holy Communion is offered to Catholics who consider themselves in good standing with their faith, others may choose to stay seated during Communion or to cross their arms over their chest to receive a blessing rather than Communion. Question

What will the weather be like?

Answer

We're not sure! Finger's crossed for sunshine and pleasant temps. September in Northern Michigan can be hot, cold, dry, wet, windy, calm, etc. Please come prepared for anything! Our hope is that it will be 70 and sunny!

Question

What do I wear??

Answer

That is a 'you' question. Richard prefers to wear shorts to weddings and Brittany likes dressing up for cute couple pics, so we won't judge, whatever you decide. We simply ask that you wear church appropriate attire to the wedding ceremony at St. Philip's. When deciding on footwear, please note the reception will be held in a grassy area.
