Abby is Katie's little sister who has filled Katie's life with more laughs and memories than one could count! Katie often sees Abby as her source of comfort. Katie's earliest memory with Abby was when they were waiting for their parents to return after they had forgotten them on their way to dinner. Their parents found them standing in the driveway, hugging and holding onto each other waiting for their parents to return. She has the most bubbly and infectious personality and truly leaves such a positive impact on everyone's life, including Katie!
Greg Harris
Best Man
Nick and Greg met freshman year of undergrad at Central College. They both went there without knowing anyone but had one thing in common, the love of baseball. They both played Dutch Baseball and were randomly selected to live with each other upon enrollment and the rest was history. They were roommates and teammates for all four years at Central. Greg always seems shy to people he first meets but after a few drinks set in, he almost turns into a completely different person. Hence his alter ego name: “Jerry.” Greg is one of the most determined, hard-working and loyal people to ever step into Nick’s life and is always supportive of decisions that Nick has made.
Marlee Petersen

Marlee is Katie's older sister and has been there for her since diaper days! Marlee has always played a pivotal role in Katie's life. From sharing the same passion for softball, which lead them both to playing collegiate softball (Go Roos!) to now being dog moms together. Katie has looked up to her big sister in so many ways. Marlee is the true definition of everything a big sister should be: caring, compassionate, brave, protective, and sincere. She has the kindest heart and has been Katie's support in every stage of her life.
Dakotah Wolken

Dakotah and Nick have known each other since freshman year of undergrad, played four years of baseball together, and lived with each other each of those four years. Dakotah was the most innocent person Nick had ever met at first but that quickly changed... (Nick had no influence on this!) Though often referred as a wild man by some, one thing is never out of the question when it comes to Dakotah and that is the love and loyalty he has for Nick. They have always been close and are willing to do anything for each other.

Danielle is Katie's new (official) sister! Although Danielle and Katie have been as close as sisters long before it became official. Danielle and Katie started out playing basketball together and their friendship continued to grow stronger as the years went on. Danielle has the most beautiful and selfless heart and that radiates so positively to everyone around her. The way she loves and cares for others is truly inspiring. The Lord has gifted her in so many ways! She has helped Katie to grow and pursue the Lord more each and every day and Katie could not imagine her life without her. Everyone needs a Danielle Gruber in their life!

Spencer has been a very close friend of Nick’s since freshman year of undergrad as well. He and Nick played four years of baseball together and lived with one another for 3 out of the 4 years. Whether it’s quoting one of their favorite movies together or simply enjoying a cold Busch Latte next to a bonfire, Spencer and Nick have always been there for each other.

Katie has known Lexi since the 5th grade when they started playing Predator Basketball together! She has been one of Katie's rocks and supports throughout the majority of her life. She is considered one of the family. There are an infinite amount of memories between the two, including the infamous handshake they would do before every softball game! Lexi has also played a pivotal role in Katie's relationship to pursue the Lord and for that, she is forever grateful. Lexi you are one in a million!
Zach Zylstra
Groomsman
Nick and Zach have known each other since undergrad while playing baseball together. Zach started his baseball career down south but transferred to Central Nick’s freshman year in which we are extremely grateful he made that decision. Zach is a year older and Nick has always viewed him as a big brother of sorts. Even when Zach graduated, he never hesitated to come back to Pella to hang out with Nick and the baseball guys. Often bringing a bottle of Captain Morgan with him, which most people know, is Nick’s weakness! Zach continues to keep in touch though living a few hours away and has made a great tradition of coming to watch the CWS with Nick every year. We are blessed to call him one of our great friends.

Hayley is Nick's older and wiser :) sister! Hayley has always been the best big sister to Nick and now Katie. They are able to count on her whenever they need it! It has been amazing to see her take on her new role as a mother to Grayson and how natural and effortless it is to her. She continues to inspire Nick and Katie each day and we are so thankful to have her in our lives.

Joe and Nick are brother-in-laws and have known each other since Joe and Nick’s sister, Hayley, have started dating. When they first met, Nick had no idea that Joe and Hayley were dating. Nick just thought it was some guy being extremely nice to him at a house party for no apparent reason. It didn’t take long for Nick to realize why this random guy was being so nice to him! Joe has been the brother that Nick never had since then and has always been there for Nick whenever needed, even allowing Nick to work and live with him one summer before grad school started. He truly is one of a kind and someone who Nick looks up to.
Lexi McCoy

Katie and Lexi met while in undergrad at UNL. The two both joined Theta and soon became best friends, which led to them living together for the following 2 years. Lexi is one of the most genuine and kind-hearted people. She has been a best friend who has supported, encouraged, and loved Katie through good and bad times in their lives. Her heart truly shines so brightly and it inspires everyone she meets. All of her future patients will be lucky to have her as a speech therapist!
Ceasar Teano

Ceasar and Nick have known each other for 3 years now and have been roommates for two of those years while attending UNMC for DPT school. Ceasar has been one of Nick’s closest friends since starting DPT school together and often rely on each other to make through the tough times when it comes to grad school! They like to try different restaurants and randomly go to the mall to buy shoes together. They have a ton in common and never fall short of joking around and having a good time!

Matti and Katie met during their sophomore year in High School. Matti just moved into town and my dad set up a lunch with some of the other softball girls to make Matti feel welcome! Matti and Katie played softball together for the rest of their high school career and were able to share some of the best memories together. They were almost inseparable! Matti has been one of the greatest friends to Katie, even though all the long-distance after high school. She has the sweetest heart and that has significantly shown as she took on the role of being a mother to the greatest little boy. Katie feels so blessed to have a friend like Matti throughout all these years, she is truly one of a kind!
Blake Jeffres

Blake and Nick have known each other since enrollment at UNMC for DPT school. Blake and Nick lived with each other for one year, which allowed them to become very close and pretty much an uncle to our puppy, Joey (as the picture shows). Blake and Nick enjoy watching sports on tv and nap every once in a while. Blake has been a great support in Nick’s life, even when it came down to being Nick’s spotter during intense Fortnite battles on the PS4. Blake is someone that we can always rely on now and for years to come!

Raegan and Katie met while in undergrad at UNL. The two ended up living in the same apartment complex as neighbors, look at how intentional our God was! Raegan and Katie instantly hit it off and shared many memories together while living at the Good ole' Links! The two often spent many nights together watching Family Feud while "studying". Raegan is someone that Katie has always been able to count on no matter what situation it may be. She has an amazing heart that loves and cares for others so deeply and is one of the strongest people Katie has ever met. She is truly inspiring!

RJ and Nick have known each other since starting DPT school at UNMC and he was the first classmate Nick met before classes even started. Though RJ and Nick often but heads when it comes to Iowa vs. Nebraska, in the end of the day, they know that they will always have each others back. RJ is actually a big key as to how Nick and Katie met. If it wasn’t for him and the mutual friends that we had, our big day may never be happening the way it is and for that we are extremely blessed to have him apart of it!

Breeanna is another one of Katie's new (official) sisters! Bree has been an amazing role model for all of her younger siblings by showing how big and caring her heart is. She truly one of the sweetest people and her smile lights up any room! Katie feels so blessed to have Bree so close to her heart! She also enjoys how they are often mistaken as biological sisters :)

JJ and Nick met during DPT school at UNMC and have became great friends ever since. JJ is never shy to let it be known that he would do anything and everything for Katie and Nick. Even if that means telling guys that Katie is engaged when they try and come up to talk to her. Nick is forever grateful to know that JJ has his back and is a great reason as to why he will play an integral part on our wedding day!

Megan is one of Katie's older cousins, who has been in her life since Katie was born! They have made numerous amounts of memories together. Megan has often been another older sister to Katie and Katie feels so blessed to have her in her life! Megan is one of the strongest people Katie has met and has always been there for Katie no matter what! She has been a rock for Katie and she is so appreciative of Megan's kind heart!

Don’t mistake him for the ring bearer, this is one our great friends Brett who Nick has known since his time at DPT school at UNMC. Though he states he is 5’8” this is up in the air at times, especially when Nick stands next to him! In all seriousness though, Brett is one of the kindest, whole-hearted person that is close with his faith like Nick and Katie. He does everything in his power to be there for Nick and Katie and never hesitates to compliment them from day to day! He must be apart of the big day so that everyone will be greeted with the big smile he always wears!

Amber has been in Katie's life since Pre-K! They have made infinite amount of memories together from the GiGi family, carrying a lunch box, and always asking if the Dingo ate your baby! Now they are both Doodle Moms together :) Amber and Katie have remained close throughout all of the years and have shared such a special friendship. Amber has such a bubbly, infectious personality that brings such light and happiness to any room. Katie has been so fortunate and blessed to have had an amazing friendship with Amber all of these years!

Though it may seem like the picture is legit, that is not Katie and not the person Nick will be marrying! Hoenig is a childhood friend that has been in Nick’s life for a very long time. Though time and distance creates a barrier at times, when these two meet up from time to time, it’s like they had never lost a step. They are able to act like they see each other each and every day when at times it’s been years since they have been able to see each other. Hoenig has played a crucial part of where Nick is at today which is why he will be ushering some of our favorite people on our biggest day!
Rebecca Jensen

Rebecca and Katie initially met while going through the interview process for OT school! Both of them completed their first interview at Drake and later met at another interview at Creighton. A few months later, they came to find out they both got accepted into the Creighton OT program where their bond and friendship grew even stronger. From the numerous hours of studying, working on projects, and completing assignments, the two were able to bond over the grad school struggle! Katie is so thankful to have met Rebecca and is forever grateful for her amazing friendship and guidance in her life!
Jonathan Temenak

Jonathan is a childhood friend of Nick’s and continues to stay in touch with him when distance has always been a challenge when it comes to seeing each other. Jonathan is a year younger than Nick and shared the same love of baseball together as they both went on after high school to play college ball. The photo used is an old one but is the last photo with one of their best friends, Jesse Ross before he passed away Nick’s senior year of high school. Jesse will be looking over Katie and Nick on their big day and we can't wait to have Jonathan be apart of it!
