One fateful night at trivia in December of 2021, Emily walked in for a second date not knowing she would be sitting with her future husband. Dalton went to trivia with his roommates and a few other family members, not knowing he would be sitting with his future wife. Yes, they were in the same group. No, they were not each other’s dates. Seated next to each other, Emily immediately started picking on Dalton for not being tall enough to join her trivia group of people over 6’ tall, and something in Dalton told him to not respond in kind (for once). By the end of the night, they had laughed and talked all evening and he got to rub in her face how precisely wrong she was. They went their separate ways in their own relationship/situationships and while they ran into each other briefly a few more times in the following weeks, they did not really reconnect until the following spring when a dating app had them realizing they were both finally single at the same time. After a few months of courting each other and skirting around “making it official”, Dalton (finally!) asked Emily to be his girlfriend on August 9th, 2022. About a month later, he found out he was going to be deployed to Djibouti, Africa for 10 months. Almost a year passed of a long-distance relationship with an 8-hour time difference. Late night/early morning phone calls, weekend video chats talking for hours, and watching the same show at the same time brought them closer than ever, and when Dalton returned home in July of 2023, they decided to move in together. After renting a place together, and then buying and renovating a house in summer of 2024, Dalton again decided it was time to make things “official”. On a gorgeous October day filled with some of Emily’s favorite things- enjoying fall colors, getting her nails done and browsing at a Barnes and Noble- Dalton brought Emily to the 1,000 Islands trail in Kaukauna and popped the question right by the water, sneaky photographer in place to capture the “yes” and all the happy tears. When it came time to choose a venue for their wedding, they both loved Round Lake Farms, and the only fall date of the following year that they had available happened to be the very same date he asked her to marry him- October 25th. The timing was too perfect not to take advantage of, and they can’t wait to see you all then and continue this love story with all of you by their side!
