Hi, This is Sruthi. I had to write something on this invite lest you think Akshay is the only one with talent in this relationship. Let me tell you how I got here. There was a time I questioned the necessity of marriage. My generation does, after all... And giving answers like "hey it is a great reason to be the centre of attention" or "because we were forced by the throes of this unforgiving society" is often only met with uncertain laughter. But I suspect the truth is something simpler and infinitely more profound: marriage is a testament to love’s quiet, stubborn endurance. And in my youthful unattentiveness, how did I know what love was? Well, love is a sneaky teacher. It creeps up on you when you least expect it. Sometimes it is when you are out grocery shopping, and you realize how beautiful the other person looks in Walmart lighting. Other times it is over the child like excitement of really wanting to spend eternity together. Love sometimes (often, he says) is watching them roll their eyes as you attempt to figure out how to parallel park. But if you're lucky and really paying attention, love will make itself known. It will rise like a tide, quiet but relentless, until it becomes impossible to ignore. It will settle into your bones, your breath, and in the space in between your heartbeats. Some days, love is all you will have in your corner to help you fight off yet another day. It is that love that we are excited to celebrate. We are still discovering the purpose of this marriage... Is it the endless fight over the remote? Is it the eternal game of who gets to throw out the garbage? Is it hoping one day we will agree on what restaurant to eat at? Or could it be a magical adventure, a main quest maybe, made just for him and me? We don't know yet. But we can't wait to find out. And we are so, so happy you'll be there for every last phera.
