KANYA AAGAMANAM Himaja arrives accompanied by her family to the venue. A cloth is placed between the bride and groom 4. KANYADAANAM Himaja's parents give away their daughter by placing her right hand into Teja's right hand. This signifies their blessing for the marriage 5. JEELAKARRA BELLAM Himaja and Teja apply a paste of cumin and jaggery on each others heads. This inseparable mixture symbolizes that the couple will stick together through both bitter and sweet times 6. MANGALYA DHARANAM Teja ties the Mangalasutram around Himaja's neck with three knots to represent the strength of their union - physical, mental and spiritual 7. TALAMBRALU The couple takes turns pouring rice on each others heads. This soon becomes a fun competition and the winner is declared as the dominant partner in the relationship 8. VARAMALA Himaja and Teja adorn each other with garlands to acknowledge their formal acceptance of one another 9. SAPTAPADI The couple will take 7 steps together. Each step signifies a vow they promise to uphold together 10. VUGARALA SAMBARAM (Ring Game) A ring is placed into a pot filled with water turmeric and rose petals. Himaja and Teja compete 3 times to find the ring first 11. ARUNDHATI DARSHANAM The priest leads the couple outside where Teja points out to Himaja the double stars, Arundathi and Vashista an ideal couple 12. AASHIRVAADAM The priest declares Himaja and Teja as husband and wife and blesses them with a happy and prosperous life!
