The Wedding Website of Ashley Higuchi and Brian DeSimone
The home base will be the small town of Hanalei, Hawaii. We recommend staying in Hanalei or Princeville. Hanalei Bay has over 2-miles of a public beach and a town center with shops, bars, and a few restaurants. (Scroll down for more details)

Flight

Flights to Kauai

For travel, we recommend flying directly to Oahu (Daniel K. Inouye International Airport) from Chicago and taking a second flight from Oahu into Kauai (Lihue Airport). The other option is to make a stop in California and fly directly to Kauai. West Coasters, You have it easy. We recommend flying direct to Kauai We don't recommend swimming. It will probably take you too long and you will be too tired/sore to dance by the time you get there. Not to say that you aren't fit enough to do it, we totally believe you are, we just would rather you use that fitness to bust a move rather than swim. But we're not gonna tell you what to do, we'll just gently discourage it.

House Or Rental

AirBnB or VRBO in Hanalei or Princeville

hanalei, HI 96722

We will be staying in Hanalei Bay on the Southern Side (see above map) of the island at a beachfront property. Our house will be a central gathering point for the week's activities. We have outlined the areas to look for Airbnb's and VRBOs. Anything in the Blue area is something we recommend in Hanalei and is perfect for guests who want walkability to our house, the beach, and the bars in Hanalei (where our afterparty will be). This is a very small, sleepy surf town vibe with farmers' markets, and old Hawaiian charm. If you would like to stay outside of the bay, we recommend anything in the Princeville area, marked in green. The houses are near the golf course, wedding venue, and a 10-minute drive to Hanalei. Princeville has more spacious homes at a good price and is a good option outside of Hanalei. Just remember you will not be within walking distance of where the wedding party will be staying. It's important to note that shared rides like UBER are available but NOT reliable in Kauai

Rental Car

Driving

Hanalei, HI

We recommend at least one rental car per travel party. To get the full experience of the Island, a rental car is a must. If you plan on going to the state parks, it's also a good idea to get a car with 4-wheel drive too! Shuttles from the airport can easily be arranged with Kauai Transportation (vickigude@gmail.com/808-635-4335) to the Northside of the Island as well. To get from Poipu to Princeville or vice versa, it will take about 1.5 hours. Traffic has gotten worse over the years, especially in the area going through Kapaa (there is one “highway”: Kuhio Hwy - but it’s just a 2 lane rd that essentially goes up and down the east side of the island). Something to keep in mind if you plan to do any traveling through rush hour.

Train

Bus from the Airport to Hanalei/Princeville

The County of Kauai provides bus service on the island of Kauai from Kekaha to Hanalei. Two of the bus routes stop at Lihue Airport daily. The bus stops in the median in front of the Terminal.

Travel Note

Food for AirBnbs & VRBOS

There is a Costco in Lihue near the airport, so we suggest stocking up on the way up to Hanalei/Princeville. There are three smaller grocery stores in the Princeville and Hanalei area as well!

Travel Note

Earplugs!

If you're staying in Hanalei, there are chickens and roosters everywhere! Make sure you bring earplugs just in case you don't want to be woken up too early. Worst thing that happens, you discover you didn't need them.

For all the days along the way
