Travel

All of your travel options to arrive in Pucon will first involve getting to the Santiago airport (SCL). This is the capital of Chile and the main international and local flight hub. We recommend flying into Santiago and spending a couple of days in the area before continuing to Pucon. Flights from Santiago to Temuco are often under $100. After arriving in Santiago, you have several options for getting to Pucon. You can: fly and then drive, drive directly from Santiago, or take a sleeper bus. You can find more information below, and pick depending on your overall travel plans! We will be adding ideas on other places to visit while you're in Chile in the "Things to Do" tab.

Flight

Fly into Temuco (ZCO)

Pucon is about an hour and a half from the Temuco airport. You will need to rent a car (recommend you book ahead of time if possible) or hire a van transfer from the airport to Pucon (can be done at the airport). There is also a bus transfer that gets you to Pucon from the airport- "Transaraucania", although they have limited hours.

Rental Car

Drive into Pucon

It takes about 8 hours to drive directly from Santiago to Pucon. Driving in Chile is very straightforward. The only difference with driving in the US would be that you are not allowed to turn on red in Chile. Google Maps will get you anywhere you need to go! Great to use for navigation and planning in general. If you have time, we recommend stopping at the "Saltos del Laja" waterfall which sits directly on the route, about 5 hours from Santiago. If you choose to drive, you also have the option of crossing the Andes into Argentina, driving south through the country and then crossing the Andes back into Chile. See Things to Do tab.

Travel Note

Overnight Bus

You can take a sleeper bus from Santiago directly into Pucon. The buses are great, very clean and cost-effective. Travel is overnight and takes about 10 hours. We recommend using Turbus and leaving from "Parque Araucano", which is next to the Parque Arauco shopping mall.

Hotel

Hotel Antumalal

Pucon, Araucanía 4920000, Chile

This is where we will be having our ceremony. It is a more upscale option close to town. There is special pricing for wedding guests at about $240 per room per night, booked directly with the hotel. Prices include a buffet breakfast and use of the spa. This place is an absolute dream of a space. Fun fact: The queen of England stayed here in the 70s and loved it so much, she funded the paving of the road that led to Pucon from Villarica, the next closes town.

Hotel

Hotel Salto del Carileufu

Caburgua, Araucanía, Chile

This is where we will be hanging out in the days prior and post the wedding and where the after-party will take place. The retreat center is a remote, peaceful oasis about 30 minutes from the town of Pucon. There are both cabins and hotel rooms available at around $140 per room per night. Hotel rooms and cabins fit 2 to 5 people. Cabins have private hot tubs with river and/or waterfall views, as well as a small kitchenette. Both cabins and hotel rooms have AC and heating. (note: it's still rare to find AC in Chile) There is a shared hottub for hotel guests. The entire retreat center is booked for the wedding on Friday and Saturday nights. These nights will be paid directly to us at a discount. The exact price will be determined after RSVPs. If you choose to stay nights outisde of Friday and Saturday, these will be paid directly to the hotel. You can book via their website. If you have trouble you can contact them via Whatsapp and pay your booking deposit via Paypal.
