How We Met

February 2017

Our friend had been wanting us to meet for quite a while. I finally agreed to meet at the end of January 2017, and I must have made a good first impression because David asked for my number. We went to a dinner and a movie the next weekend, and haven't been able to get rid of the other since.

The Proposal

October 2023

We took the camper on a week long road trip with the dogs to explore. We stopped in Estes Park, Colorado, walked along Lake Estes, made a scenic drive through Rocky Mountain National Park, and met some of the locals (mostly elk). Our next adventure took us through winding roads in the mountains to Canon City, Colorado. We hiked Tunnel Drive Trail with the dogs, where we had a beautiful view of the Arkansas River. The following day we stopped by the Royal Gorge Park. We rode a gondola across the canyon, which both dogs loved. On the way back, we walked across the bridge, which one dog did not love, and quite honestly, neither did I. It was getting windy, and the bridge was swaying in the wind. For our final destination, we headed to Moab, Utah, to see some beautiful red rocks. We dropped the dogs off at doggy day care the first day, and made our way to Arches National Park. David was determined to make it as close to Delicate Arch as possible (which I thought was weird, considering David would rather drive than walk), however by the time we got to the hike to Delicate, we weren't sure we would have enough time to make it there and back, while still exploring the remainder of the park, so we settled for seeing it at the lookout point. David kept taking us out further, and further, getting as close as possible without going over a ledge. When we couldn't go any further, I was looking around, soaking in all the beautiful scenery, and when I turned around, David was down on one knee with the most beautiful ring. We soaked in our engagement, and finished our trip by spoiling the dogs with a hike at Dead Horse Point State Park (where they were introduced to lizards), and driving down Shafer Canyon in Canyonlands National Park.
