Hilton Head Island Airport (HHH)

HHH is the only commercial airport located on the island. United and American both offer direct flights on a seasonal basis from Chicago O’Hare (ORD). Note that the airport is extremely small and car rental options are limited. This is also likely to be the most expensive flight option since the airport is so conveniently located.

Savannah-Hilton Head International Airport (SAV), Savannah, Georgia

SAV is the closest major airport to Hilton Head. SAV is located one hour from Hilton Head via Interstate 95 and U.S. 278. Savannah is served by all major carriers including direct flights from Chicago on United, American and Southwest. You also have the option of connecting through Atlanta on Delta Airlines which may be cheaper.

Charleston International Airport (CHS), Charleston, South Carolina

CHS located in Charleston is the next closest major airport after SAV. Charleston is located approximately two hours by car from Hilton Head. Note that the drive from Charleston to Hilton Head does involve back roads which can be very dark at night. CHS is served by all major carriers including direct flights from Chicago on United, American and Southwest.

Jacksonville International Airport (JAX), Jacksonville, Florida

JAX is located approximately three hours by car from Hilton Head. Jacksonville is served by all major carriers including direct flights from Chicago on United, American and Southwest.

Getting Around Hilton Head

We strongly recommend that you rent a car. While Uber, Lyft and taxis do exist in Hilton Head they cannot be relied upon for regular transportation. Please note Hilton Head is designed as an eco friendly community and streetlights are not common. As a result it can be extremely dark at night. The island is heavily forested and motorists should be mindful of deer.

Private Homes and Villas at Sea Pines

Renting a home or villa at Sea Pines is another great option. Some basic info about home and villa rentals: - 1-2 bedroom villas: Guests can check in/out any day of the week. There is a 4-night minimum stay required. -3-4 bedroom villas: 7-night (Saturday- Saturday) stays required -Vacation home rentals: 7-night rental required. The vast majority of these homes rent from Saturday-Saturday though some may be available for other 7 night periods, usually Friday- Friday. Check-in begins at 4:00 p.m. and check-out is 10:00 a.m. for all Sea Pines rental properties.

You also have the option of renting a home or a villa through Airbnb and VRBO. Please be sure to confirm with your host how you access the gated community or resort that the property is located in. Some hosts include a gate pass while others do not. Please be aware that you will have to purchase a Sea Pines gate pass to access the resort outside of our wedding festivities.

The Holiday Inn Beach House is approximately 5.5 miles from the Harbour Town Clubhouse, which equates to an approximate 12 - 15 minute drive.

The Sonesta is approximately 5.7 miles from the Harbour Town Clubhouse, which equates to an approximate 16 - 20 minute drive.

The Marriott is approximately 6.9 miles from the Harbour Town Clubhouse, which equates to an approximate 19 - 23 minute drive.

The Omni Hilton Head Oceanfront Resort is located in the Palmetto Dunes Resort. The resort is approximately a 15-20 minute drive from Sea Pines.

Marriott offers rentals of homes and villas throughout Hilton Head. Minimum stay requirements vary by property. A gate pass is typically included with most rentals but it is always a good idea to confirm this in advance.
