I first met Katie when we were 11 years old while helping out in the kitchen at a pancake breakfast put on by our younger brothers Cub Scout pack. She took charge of the whole kitchen while I simply tried to keep out of the way and cook the sausages as best as I could. Our families quickly became good friends and tried to set us up once or twice, but we wouldn't start dating for another 6 years!
I had tickets to a Dolphins football game senior year of high school and needed to bring someone, so I decided to ask Trevor because he was the most football obsessed friend I had. That led to us hanging out more (aka a few more football games). One day he texted me to come outside of my house and I found a homemade sign left on my car asking me to homecoming (which I found out later was made by his sister and mom). I looked around but he had already left (because he was scared I would say no). I had to call him to say yes. Homecoming was our first date and after that we were officially dating (years later than our parents originally tried to set us up), and the rest is history.
My favorite trip of ours was when we spent a week going on as many hikes as we could manage from North Georgia to Southern Virginia. We took way too many photos for me, but not nearly enough for Katie. I loved being able to explore with her, even if it was exhausting. I can't wait to go on many more adventures with her, for the rest of our lives.
I would have to say April 25th, because it's not too hot, not too cold. All you need is a light jacket (and it's Trevor's birthday)! But actually... On my last trip to Virginia before Trevor moved he surprised me by taking us to see the sunrise on Virginia Beach. I have always loved sunrises & sunsets and was naturally very excited. Saturday morning we woke up and hadn't planned well and saw the sun already rising as we were driving there. Trevor was a really good sport and knew I had been very excited to go, so we got up even earlier on Sunday, got some coffee on the way, and made it to the beach while it was still dark. We took tons of photos (of course), danced, laughed, and had a great time. After, we got some breakfast and spent the rest of the day exploring Virginia Beach.
After 5 years of dating it was about time for an engagement, so when Trevor went home in October for 'no particular reason' I was only slightly suspicious. It was the day after Thanksgiving and our families were going out to a nice dinner so everyone was dressed up and meeting at my house. Lexie tried to distract me by telling me my hair needed fixing (I was only slightly hurt) and when I came downstairs everyone was gone. I walked outside and both our families were lining the driveway and each handed me a sunflower as I walked out. Then there was Trevor with a sign (just like how he asked met out) and he asked me to marry him (I said yes).
My favorite moment in our relationship was when I was finally able to move to Baton Rouge to be with her. We had been in a long distance relationship for 5 years since high school. It meant a lot to finally move somewhere where I was living and working in the same city as her, and finally not having to say good bye at the end of a visit.
