Yes, It’s Happening!

In February 2021 Matt surprised Julie with a trip to Wyoming with plans to visit Grand Teton National Park. On May 14th they flew to Jackson Hole. After a long day of traveling they had a quiet first night, exploring the town. The next morning they excitedly got up to head to Grand Teton. They had plans to see Jenny Lake first and foremost. After parking at the visitors center they set out toward the mountains, stopping along the south side of the lake to enjoy the scenery and take pictures. After hiking halfway around the south side of the lake, someone (Julie) decided they chose the wrong shoes for the job, luckily her hiking boots were back in the car. Matt found this a fantastic opportunity to suggest they hike the opposite direction around the lake, viewing the entire lake AND with the mountains in the background. As they hiked they found a long strip on the beach that was rocky and quiet, no one else around. It was beyond gorgeous. Walking along the shore and taking in the view for a few moments, Matt said he wanted to get the selfie stick out of his bag to get some pictures of the 2 of them alone at such a beautiful spot. Julie wandered along the shoreline, waiting for Matt to catch up, when he did, he seemed almost distressed... He hugged Julie. She exclaimed "Are you ok?" To which he replied "Yes, I will be, but I gotta ask you something..." "What?" she said, looking at him. Matt got down on one knee while Julie clasped her hands over her mouth, already beginning to cry. He said "I love you more than anything, will you accept this shiny and marry me?" "That doesn't look like a pickup truck." She proclaimed. Not the usual response, but she always told herself if Matt proposed before he found a truck that she would be shocked. Matt replied "It's not." He then stood up, hugged her and said "I didn't hear your answer." She then yelled "YES, put it on my finger!" It was perfect.
