Peter Pan Bus operates frequent bus service from Boston’s South Station, and all terminals at Logan Airport, directly to the Steamship Authority Wharf in Woods Hole. Tickets need to be purchased in advance. Other transportation options include renting a car or hiring a private car service. More information on traveling to Martha's Vineyard can be found here: https://www.winnetu.com/about-us/getting-here/
We recommend enjoying a weekend without a car. There are taxis and Ubers available (see the Travel tab) and all the towns on the island are very walkable. The island is filled with wide bike trails and bicycle rentals are readily available, with some offering drop-off/pick-up service, which is another popular option. For those staying at the Winnetu, the resort provides a complimentary shuttle to and from Edgartown. If you do want to have a car, there are several car rental companies on Martha's Vineyard or you can reserve a spot on a car ferry.
You can buy these as of January 25, 2022 at 5:00 a.m. EST. They sell out quickly so be sure to plan ahead. https://www.steamshipauthority.com/reservations/reservation_opening_dates

You do not! If you are taking the Steamship Authority ferry from Woods Hole, passenger tickets can be purchased upon arrival and are valid for any of their ferries, at any time.
We recommend staying in Edgartown as this is the town where our wedding will take place.
Edgartown is a stately quaint New England village and the location of the first Vineyard Vines store. The picturesque Main Street is filled with great restaurants and plenty of shopping, ending at Edgartown Harbor. From here you can take a very short ferry ride over to Chappaquiddick and check out the Japanese Garden, East Beach, or make the trek up to the Cape Poge Lighthouse. Downtown Edgartown is also just a quick 10-minute car ride or 15-minute bike ride to South Beach, which is right next to our wedding venue, the Winnetu Resort.
Oak Bluffs is famous for its colorful gingerbread cottages and tabernacle. It has a lively downtown filled with shops and restaurants. The town has a long stretch of beach located close to the ferry and downtown area. It is 15 minutes from Edgartown by car or taxi, 30 minutes by bike, and has bus service available. It is one of the main ports of entry onto the island.
Vineyard Haven is one of the two main ports of entry. In addition to its scenic harbor, Vineyard Haven has a charming Main Street area with shops and restaurants. It is located about fifteen minutes from Edgartown by taxi, car, and by bus service.
The up-island towns of Menemsha and Aquinnah are located in rural areas of the Vineyard. They both are unique and worth the trip. It takes about forty minutes to drive from these towns to Edgartown. Bus services is available, but limited with times of travel. Menemsha is a cute fishing village with a few shops and restaurants. Aquinnah, is at the westernmost tip of the island. It is best known for the colorful Gay Head Cliffs and Gay Head Lighthouse. The beach is beautiful!
Check out www.mvol.com it has a lot of great information about the island. Please visit the site for more information on getting there, transportation, restaurants, accommodations, and things to do.
